i love them, they play kinda melodic darker punk, with a mix of pop punk too

their gig was amazing, there not boring cos they have loads of variety

They are punk even though they may not be ska. They definetly arent pop punk either, and dont even think for a second that they're emo cos they arent. Are you trying to tell ppl what punk is and isnt?

I'd consider Alkaline Trio punk. The fast tempo, dynamics, use of four chords and melodic songs are all there (bearing in mind that most punk these days is not the same as it was in the late 70s).

As for the band themselves, when I was younger I thought they were just a fun pop-punk band and one of the best of the bad bunch. Forward to today and now they're following the herd of Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance, etc. with this serious "goth" image, for whatever reason. Now I can't take them for anything.

I'm not a huge fan but I saw them last week and I was quite impressed, even though I didn't think it was gonna be that good.

Their new album isn't that bad but I prefer the older stuff off ''From Here To Infirmary'' and the likes.

I like 1 or 2 of their songs.I hate the lyrics, I think they verge on the whole "I'm so depressed,watch me as I make my guitar bleed" genre.
I think the quality and talent of instruments is kinda crap.Although the drummer can pull off some nice rolls for basic songs.

You think wrong. If you've actually read most of Alklaine trio's lyrics (particularly pre-Crimson) you'd know that they are nowhere near the whole "I'm so depressed etc etc" scene.
