NTL seems to think summer is early this year, the Clock has gone forward an hour.

Or maybe they have moved us to CET, all programs listed on the EPG are listed an hour late, so the wrong clock is in sync with the EPG..

Weird, i checked my other NTL box, and it is correct time and the EPG is also correct.

    In the same boat here.
Di300 running on correct time but the small stb upstairs is an hour fast.
But when I look at the engineer screen on the one running fast, the clock is bang on time.:confused:

Actually, like you, there are different models, the one on european time is the new small dinky ones.

What has NTL said about it?

    It is what it's.

Same here, but couldn't be bothered calling up about it. They'll just try and send a tech around to my house...

I notice the box upgraded about two days, this appears to have caused the problem!

The F**king incorrect clock is driving me NUTS. Has anyone rang ntl yet ???
My mate got to work an hour early thanks to the ntl clock :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,138 ✭✭✭snaps

I actually rang them this afternoon and they said that they would book an engineer to call around. I didn't realise at the time it was a nationwide problem but I said to them that all 3 boxes in the house was an hour in front. Ntl still said that an engineer was needed to take a look????? What is that all about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,559 ✭✭✭The tax man

I wouldn't even bother waiting for a tech to come out and have "a look"
Everyone with the small box has the same problem.
The box itself does have the correct time(if you know where to look).
It's just the EPG that's wrong which has nothing to do with the box itself.

    hi all

is it just me or is the time on NTL digital STB one hour ahead? Have NTL decided to move into British Summer Time without telling the rest of the world?

small but very annoying little glitch..any body seeing the same?

Because they can't run a cable company. Channels come, go, are shown in wrong ratios, have sound and no picture or he other way round...etc.

    Mike.

I agree with all the above but on the plus side...They seem to have the best customer service of any big company i've had to deal with (esb, eircom, bt, bord gais, etc) Alway seem to be on the ball and able to help me.

Your opinion. Can't fault them personally. BB, analogue & digital TV, plus unlimited VOIP calls via Blueface for just.........................€70 a month. Yeah - they really can't deliver alright.

You are talking about Chorus there, I've never experienced any of these problems on NTL *.

BTW Has anyone bothered to actually call NTL and ask them what is the problem or is everyone just in here moaning.

BBTW I'm having the same problem, but it doesn't effect me as I use my TiVo's EPG.

    * Yes I know Chorus and NTL are now owned by the same company.

They are better than a few years back (I wont replay my own tales of woe) but you'd swear it was a particularly tricky line of business to be in the way NTL and Chorus work.

I think a lot of companies have improved in recent years. Any current examples?

Freddie do you work for NTL by any chance?

    Mike.

The time thing is driving me nuts.... You would be surprised how often you rely on the time on the STB.

Hopefully they sort it soon :(

got a response from ntl with 48 hours of emailing them (suppose that's not bad)

    ===

thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we are still experiencing issues with the clock on the Digital Service. I can advise that our Regional Technical Department and our Engineers are working on this issue and are doing their utmost in having this matter resolved as quickly as possible.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 1800 321 321 or once again e-mail us on customer.support@ntl.ie

    Kind regards

**sigh** Because I asked you a question? Get a grip Mike! I presume you think other users like bk, etc are also working for them? If you read my reply, you'll see that I complimented another Irish company, Blueface. I suppose you think I work for them also! I also think that the ESB, Bord Gais, and An Post are very good companies. Get the drift?

Is it a crime to actually COMPLIMENT an Irish company on their service now?:D I firmly believe that credit, when due, should be given. We Irish have an awful habit of knocking our own.

Now, back on topic - any current examples?

Current, no. But a quick search on this forum will show thats a temporary state of affairs!

anyone else got an option to turn on/off 'digital sound output' - I have it on my small decoder and not on my older pace version.

Have to agree with Freddie they're not too bad but could do with getting their asses in gear with PVRs and all the interactive tricks used on Sky

they're probably going to leave it running fast until the hour goes forward at the end of the month

bada bing! problem solved (until October anyway)

Nope, i think it we will still be an hour ahead. the clock on the engineering screen is correct, the box is adding the hour to what ever clock signal it gets.

Remember the EPG is also an hour fast.

At lunch time today - "yourset top box is been upgraded" message appeared . The box restarted and the clock was fixed ... Now I wonder what will happen when summer Time starts for real :D
