Got this message from my boss this am:

"Guess what. The new camera was dropped on the ground by sarah yesterday. The LCD screen is in sh1t. Any suggestions ???
    Canon Power Shot S80
    PC1155
    # 0931000491"

If any one had any ideas would be worth brownie pts to me ?

Is there some one who would tackle this job or should she go back to store and see if it can be sent back for repair?

you#ll get nowhere sending it back to canon.. trust me.. I got a canon G6.. few days after having it the screen cracked.. dono how it did but it did. I made loads of phone calls, no way was I getting it fixed for free they said. I went into Conn's, canons main dealer. And they said there's not a chance it'll be fixed for free the guy in the shop was certain it wont be fixed. My camera to get fixed by Conn's was gonna cost about 300 cos of the labour, so i said, forget it. Just made do without it.

The only cheap way would to be buy a faulty camera on ebay and swap the screen yourself maybe.

why would they fix it for free? It didn't fail due to a design flaw or faulty part. Ring Image Supply Systems but they'll probably just say what I did; send it back to Canon. Canon's HQ is 01 2052400

I know someone sent TechnikDirekt a Canon IXUS back for LCD repair. The total was €100 inc shipping.

You could try Alan in Photographic Repair Services in Portobello.

I had a similar problem... dropped a Powershot SD400, and, the screen being ridiculously fragile, it cracked.. I was told repair would cost the best part of €200.. which initially put me off, but it was steadily getting worse, and the viewfinder wasn't much use.
I eventually managed to make an insurance claim and got a cheque for €96
I went to the photography centre on Grafton st. and the total cost was €180, 80 of that was carriage and it was taken off the repair price..

It's damn expensive alright... but because of the insurance, I only ended up paying €80
