Im going to go this year for the first time :) and I'm looking for advice from anyone who has been there before :

    1) How far is ballybrit from the city?
    2) What would be the best 2 days to go?
    3) Where should I stay. I would consider hotels, b&b's, guesthouses or even camping
    4) Are there any good pubs in ballybrit, or does everyone head back to the city.
    5) Where can I buy tickets in advance. (I'd like to get them this week)

    Thanks

A few miles. 5 minutes in a car on a 'normal day'. Free bus serivce from Eyres Square during the races.

The days you can pick the most winners - I'd say days closer to the weekend

If your young enough and don't mind roughing it there are some great hostels in Galway in and around Eyres Square. Other than that plenty of hotels around Eyres Sqaure. If your winning maybe the 'G' Hotel.

May I suggest the Fianna Fail tent for drinkies.

About 3 mile...buses go to/from Eyre Square during racing

    2) What would be the best 2 days to go?
Wed and Thurs are the 2 biggest days with the 2 biggest races...hurdle and plate. Friday is an evening meeting, sat. a day meeting...depends what you want but for best quality racing i would go wed and thurs

    3) Where should I stay. I would consider hotels, b&b's, guesthouses or even camping
Anywhere central preferably..I would book now. You might have hassle getting taxis after the pub so the more central the better

    4) Are there any good pubs in ballybrit, or does everyone head back to the city.
Go back to the city...all the pubs have bar extensions for race week. Nothing in ballybrit

    5) Where can I buy tickets in advance. (I'd like to get them this week)
I've been a few times and just bought tickets at the gate on the day.

    enjoy it...it's mad altogether!

I know the questions have already been answered, I'd just like to say that I prefer going on the Monday and Tuesday. Not as jammed as the two big days, and also more of a "local" crowd, ya see ould fellas that have been going since 1947.
