Hi Im AngloCelt from Cavan. I have a question about wireless video senders and remote extenders. Could anyone recommend to me a good one? I got the Welltech wireless tranmission set from Lidl some time ago but the remote now only works when you are up close to the receiver unit. It is a right pain in the hole to switch a Sky channel.

    Thank you.

I've read a few good reviews on the AEI Digisender on reviewcentre.com

Some of the AEI range can be got in Argos.

Most of them are similar, though a few worse and a few better. Try cleaning window of Welltech. Does anyone smoke in the room? Cigarette tar does in the window of the sensor behind the outer plastic molding.

To get a CE mark they have to meet the same basic spec. The Welltech "eye" does seem a little less sensitive than Thomson and other brands I've used. Maplin also has some competitively priced.

Borrow two new batteries for the remote control. You did say Cavan didn't you? :D

Edit I've been using the Welltech units for about 2 yrs and no problems at all.

I think there might be another problem and its not the batteries. It worked for a few minutes again last night, but Im getting a lot of fine lines across the screen too. Then the remote stopped working again. Could someone else in the area have picked one up nearby? I tried changing channels too it only has 4.

I used to live in a bungalow and all the walls were solid brick not stud walls. So I had to position the sender/receiver to go through the minimum number of walls to minimise loss. I ended up putting the unit in the bay windows of both the sitting room and bedroom. If anyone came to the front door they passed through the signal and caused a flicker on the screen. Have you moved any furniture or anything into the line of sight between the two units? Are the aerials still aligned properly? Also are you changing the channel to match on both units? Obvious I know but easy enough to overlook when frustrated.

Not really similar, this is in a 40 year old cottage, and the walls are quite thin, and they are just a room apart, one wall and no furniture was moved, but both teh reciever abd transmitter was switched off for a few days. I have the channels set correctly.

    WiFi or baby Intercom?

There are 4x 2.4GHz TX channels (under 1/2W, typically 1/10th watt to 1/100th Watt). These are all inside Wifi Band (typically 1/10th Watt). Two are inside Radio Amateur band also (Secondary users, up to 25W).

2.4Ghz wireless mouse/keyboard/presentation pointer remotes, most analog and TCP/IP wireless camera and many baby alarms/intercoms use same band.

The remote channel is not changed. It is fixed on 433MHz approx, same as used for many Wireless weather stations, baby alarms, some cordless headphones and many remote only Wireless links.

A bit of a EU regulation slip up the single 433MHz channel. It is also very close to RB5 / RB6 70cm repeater frequency and inside the part of 70cm Amateur band (Primary users) where up to 400W RMS (800 or 900W pep SSB) is alowed compared with the 10mW typical of the remote transmitter (over 1 thousand times less power).

Wifi in Cavan, unlikely, no babies within a mile of me at least! But there is a lidl weather station here, but that has not affected it before.

At the moment its very hit and miss... if I have the lines on screen I can change the remote. If the picture is pin sharpe i cant. Normally i can change between both states if i change channel on the unit.

I hope this works here is a picture from my phone of the tv.
