Looking to buy some spirits for a cocktail, all of which cost a fortune. Anyone any ideas on the best place to buy these items (in terms of value/price)

    Vanilla Vodka
    Kahlua
    Creme de Cacao

Brand isn't too important, although I doubt you'll get anything aside from the main brands in this country.

Have you tried shopping online for them? If you buy all three online it may be worth your while against the delivery charge... and you'll definitely get what you want on the internet.

You could also make your own vanilla vodka with essence or a pod and a bottle of plain vodka.

Thanks, have tried online, but I need it for Friday so thats no good.

Thanks for the vanilla vodka idea, had't considered that - off to google a recipe!

Check in the Whiskey shop on Dawson St, they appear to have a very good selection of spirits.

You can buy quality essences online for making liquers with vodka.

All I can say about it is this; I love cocktails, but treat them the way you'd treat a recipe for anything.

When's the last time you substituted one ingredient for another when making a cake/your dinner/anything at all? Don't be afraid to do it with cocktails!

Most liquers are pricey but good ones are made from actual essences of fruits, i.e. extracts rather than artificial extracts. The ones in the link I gave are top quality. As MAJD says it is easy to make your own and google will show up plenty of recipies. If you use quality fresh produce it will be superior and often cheaper than the commercial stuff. Kahlua is easy enough to make, I find the original far too sweet.
