    Hey,

I am quiting my job in the next few days and I need some advice on what to do.I am going to Australia and going traveling in 3-6 months.I just cant take my job anymore and I have been "sticking it out until I leave" for a month or so and cant "stick it out"anymore. I wish I could but I cant.

I have just turned 23 and have been working in the financial services sales industry for almost 3 years.I have a 2 year cert and 3 other part time dimpomas in financial services.

I am going travelling (working also) in the next 3-6 months and I am not sure what I can work at before I go. I am waiting for a while before I go so I can sit another diploma and have a 4 part diploma qualification which I think is important.
I am not pushy on what i'd like to do and have no experience in temping but that could be an option. My head is too muddled to think properly so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Something with a temporary contract or part time whick pays well enough. Im not really interested in working in a shop. Any ideas at all?

I know its not specific but i need help!

    Thanks

    Hi there

I spent a year in Australia myself working and backpacking around. I worked a lot too while i was there.

I worked in an office of one of the big-5 accountancy companies (i'm not an accountant or anything like it), but found that the only way to get work other than bar/ catering jobs, was to go through employment agencies. A lot of agencies do not particularly like backpackers, but then again you can get lucky. I was lucky to have one employer for 6 months as i initially got the job through an agency and when my 3 months of employment with the agency being my employer, the company took me on for 3 months meaning i got a full 6 months work, which suited me at the time.

I'm sure you will have read all the conditions about working in Australia, like having to have a working holiday visa, tax file number, etc.

It will depend on whether you can a) get work; b) get the sort of work you are expecting to get; c) your wage expectation; d) live on this wage as well as travel and explore the country; and e) how flexible you can be.

Check out local papers to see what sort of jobs are available and what money they offer. Many job advertistments will say that the applicant must be available to work for 6 months or a year. Or have been resident in Australia for 'x' amount of time. That is their way of saying that the job is not for backpackers.

One such paper to check out is the Sydney Morning Herald.... http://www.smh.com.au

Best of luck with your adventures!
