Sandyford Luas Parking?!

I posted this on askaboutmoney but thought it may be better suited here:

    Hi everyone,

Myself and my girlfriend are hopefully about to go sale agreed on a house in Wicklow. She works in Sandyford with a dedicated parking space so should be fines but I work in the city centre and am trying to figure out my best commuting option...drive to the Luas at Sandyford (15miles approx) or get the Dart from Greystones (5min drive). I would prefer the Luas option if the parking situation in Sandyford was not too much of a nightmare...does anybody else park in Sandyford everyday to be in town for 9am? I can't seem to get any information anywhere as to how quickly the car park fills up in the mornings, or if you can manage to find a free spot in the industrial estate somewhere?! Any advice would be greatly appreciated...this is my first post if that helps?!

    Thanks!

15miles to Sandyford or 5mins to the Dart?
Seems like a bit of a no brainer.

Sorry, after reading my post it probably wasn't all that clear. It would be a 5 min drive to Dart in Greystones, then park car, then 50-60min dart ride, then 10 min walk in town...so all included would be approx 1hr20mins. Also would need to account for the poor dart service past Bray in the evenings.

What I though, quite possibly wrongly, was that it may be quicker and easier to drive to the Luas at Sandyford (guessing about 30mins?!) and take the 22min luas trip right to my office in town...2min walk, and I wouldn't have to contend with dashing for the dart that actually goes past Bray to Greystones. Therefore hopefully the commute would be less than an hour.

Any thoughts, or am I blinded by the thought of countryside living already?!!!

    What?
I'm sorry, but that sounds like a bit of an exageration.

Why not get a lift from your girlfriend?

I would love to get a lift from my girlfriend but unfortunately she works from 8.30-4.30 every day, and I work from 9 to anywhere between 5.30 and 7pm. It's a pity because that would be a perfect solution.

The Dart that I would hope to get from Greystones to Pearse street is at 7.54am and arrives at 8.44am, or 8.05 arriving at 8.55. So 50 mins. The real issue would be the dart home which isn't too regular past Bray.

Thanks for your thoughts so far

    Hi Angusweb,

did you ever figure out which was better, getting the DART from Greystones or getting the Luas from Sandyford.

I am looking for the same information. I guess it all boils down to the question how long does it take to get in and out of Sandyford Industrial Estate and is there sufficient parking at normal (peak) times at the Luas park and ride?

If anyone else knows please let me know...

    Thanks in advance,

    Erinys5.

I work in Sandyford (other end than the Luas, up by the Beacon) and I can assure you, parking here is hopelessly dreadful. The earlier you arrive the better your chances. I'd suggest trying both for a while; you'll work out which is better quickly enough.

Could you please start a new thread? The thread you replied to is very old.
