Should Aiken refund SOME Money for GnR Gig?

When I woke up this morning there was an ad playing for the GnR gig on 98FM and it said that Motley Crue would be support. There was an ad in the Evening Herald late edition on Thursday night saying the same thing and the radio announcers and the article in Thursdays Irish Independant also mentioned this. Tickets went on sale 44 minutes ago and a good deal of people are under the pretence that support will be provided by Motley Crue

Could someone please tell me why we dont DEMAND a partial refund on the GnR tickets from Aiken despite the fact that Motley Crue have quietly 'pulled out' (which is a lie first and foremost, because they never confirmed to begin with)?

    1. Motley Crue has all 4 original members, GnR has only 1 original member (excluding Dizzy Reed cause he didnt join until 1990)
    2. Motley Crue has been releasing records since 1981, and has released a substanial amount more albums then GnR
    3. Motley Crue has (and im open to correction on this) NEVER played Ireland before?
    4. Motley Crue RELEASE albums

When I first heard of this concert I was over the moon, my two favorite bands in the whole wide world playing together in Dublin. I even rescheduled my holiday back a week to attend this mother****ing concert.

I bought my tickets, but I think that 64.50 for a GnR band that hasnt released an album in 13 years, a single in 11 years (Estranged was released in France in 1995) and hasnt toured at all in 4 (or properly in 13yrs) should not charge that. The Irish Independant should also not advertise the original GnR line up as playing the RDS this June when thats never even likely to happen!

I think Aiken should knock 20euro off the price for everyone because of this mixup, and refund 20euro to those who already bought tickets.

I would agree totally with this and i think that Aiken should refund
However you are more or less pissing against the wind tbh. I'd bet money that they have clauses in their terms and conditions which eliminate your right to a refund.

It is away too dear. Could buy an Oxegen day ticket for the same price and see loads of bands and get a full days entertainment.
They will probably get some crap band now.
Would have been worth it if Motley Crue were playing though

My finger is so far from he pulse. Heh Heh. Sounds like a bad deal alright. Surely you could get a refund, because it was not as advertised?

yea, I'm sure they'd just offer you a full refund (if you give them your ticket back that is) I'm not a Motely Crue fan but I would have like d to see them...

They aren't a refund kind of company.....

unfortunatley the chances of them partially refunding for any mistake on their part is non existant.........all they have to do is attempt to add more names to be bill (some of the more rubbish bands from Download - although if they get some of the better stuff yet to be announced it may be cool)
but if they attempt to just put a one band bill on with no major support for that price it will hopefully hurt therm.....

I guess the main problem here is the lack of large promotion competition, I know some of the smaller promoters and they are doing a fantastic job of getting bands over here, but with Aiken and MCD you just have more of a chance of being screwed, they charge so far over the odds for gigs here, 18 months ago we were 30% higher on average for concert tickets than the rest of Europe, and I think this will increase.......but what choices have we, there are now finally a lot of bands coming here because the money is good......so unless somone with a hell of a lot of cash comes in and promotes for the love of music and not just to rip people off things will continue as they are, same old same old......

You are entitled to a refund under your consumer rights.

Other than that you could attempt to claim they advertised Motley Crue knowing full well they werent playing and take a misleading advertising case against them. That is the only way I see you getting a partial amount knocked off the current tickets (for everyone).

From the sounds of things you just wanted to see Motley Crue so just get a refund and if theres any problems take it to the consumers rights office.

I still reckon Motley Crue may well play another of the nights that weekend, as they have been confirmed to play the download festival (the uk one anyway). I'd say they are just pissed to be playing support to GNR, given the history between the 2 bands. Well heres hoping anyway...

I dont see it anywhere confirmed officially on the site. Only place I can see it really is the efestivals site as "to be confirmed". This more than often means its definite, but there doesnt seem to be anything on the official site. Where do you see it?

sorry my mistake, I read somewhere can't remember (blabbermouth.net I think?) that they are expected to play download uk, but you are right they haven't been confirmed as yet. Bad wording by myself... doh :o

ask for a refund as you are a motley crue fan only. you are entitled to a refund as the advertising is misleading, you can go to small claims court cheaply if they wont give you a refund and office consumer affairs cant help you.

i'd read the back of the ticket just to be sure,

aiken probably have a condition that says something along the lines of this
"support acts are subject to change yadda yadda"

Aiken Promotions pulls scams, its how they make their money! they are in for the money, not the music!

I thought Motley Crue were supporting. Im not gonna go cos i cant stand Axl and His Band(they will not be referred to Guns N' Roses near me) although would be fun to see Motley in action! I saw in the paper yesterday that they were supporting. Confusin me now it is

Sweet, I bought a seated ticket by mistake and then had to buy another standing one, so I need to sell the seated one, so, although I have no interest in Motley Crue whatsoever, for the purpose of hopefully getting a refund I'm a hardcore fan :p

I can't believe these scumbags! Just deleting Motley Crue like that? That has got to be illegal.

In the interests of everyone, I do think Aiken should have been more professional in their stance by stating on the Guns N' Roses Ticketmaster page (and at outlets) that "Mötley Crüe will NOT be playing" and that they "apologise for any inconvinience caused".

Of course, that's not going to help them sell more tickets...

There's no way they'll "knock off" €20 because Mötley Crüe aren't supporting, but you can always fight for a refund. You did know it wasn't going to happen though.

If you look at the back of your ticket, it will say somethign along the lines of you can not get a refund unless the gig is cancelled.
    I don't see anyone getting a refund.

Though this line may be open to interpretation and your best bet is still the consumer rights office.

Instead of speculating, why not just get in contact with them:

Aiken Promotions, 58-59 Thomas Street Dublin 8 Republic of Ireland | ph: +353-1-4546656 | office@aikenpromotions.com

I know the family quite well - my parents live on the same street as them. If you organise a petition I'll drop it in to them this weekend...

Don't care about Motley Crue, but I am pissed off that there was no apology for the mistake on aikens website ... also pissed at having to pay an extra 6 euro for each ticket for buying online.

well said. 6 euro per ticket is a rip off. i wouldnt mind if it was 6 euro per transaction regardless of ticket quantity.they print them all off in one batch and post them in the same envelope so i dont get why they need handling charges per ticket! anyway, should be a good gig no matter who supports. its been a long time since 92!

I'd be more worried for casual GNR fans from back in the day going to the gig and realising all is not right. Any time I've heard radio people discussing the gig they've been giving people the impression that it's the original line-up. Any one who believes them is in for a cruel shock.

    There's a good chance you'll get a refund.

All these concerts are priced exactly the same who ever is on the bill. Lats year most were 59.50 this year they are 64.50!!
