Did ya ever see a bunch of whiney tossers tryin to be cool. The Artic Monkeys came across like complete arrogant ingrates. It would put me off gettin their album. They've along way to go before they can get away with that carry on. They're no Oasis.

Well the awards were.... meh.

Russell Brand was an unfunny annoying twat.
That guy from The Cribs who dived onto the table to grab that award ended up in hospital because of it..... gobsh!te.
Kaiser Chiefs album winner of best album.... f**k off.
Sugababes cover of I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor was hideous.
Surprisingly Doherty showed up, even more surprisingly he and Babyshambles played Albion and most surprisingly of all they were great! I saw Pete in an interview after it and he seemed to be well and in good form.... I just wonder how long he keeps it for though.
Ian Brown was the deserved winner of the Genius Award.

As you could have predicited the show was all about Arctic Monkeys. They very much deserve their awards but it was all a bit too much and predictable for me. I just worry about when the NME get fed up of them and start knocking them down like they have done with Oasis.

WHAT? "bigggest band in the world" When the hell where Oasis that? They never made it out of the E.U. And how in gods name can a Oasis fan call the Artic Monkeys arrogant "ingrates". Dont get me wrong I have most oasis albums and appreciate what they did and to a lesser extent what there still doing but Artic Monkeys are amazing. The only shame is there fan-bace has gone very main stream. And know one wants a Nervana-like inability to cope with a main stream fan-bace. With that said I do like the fact they wont do CVIMT (Crap Vested Interested Mucis Tv).

They have sold a sh!t load of albums in America by most British bands standards. They also played a sold out show at Madison Square Garden. They're massive in Australia and Japan too. However ''biggest band in the world'' in the world is nonsense.

I agree with you about how Arctic Monkeys' mainstream success might affect them. I'm worried about it. There are alot of very sceptical people out there about their success and alot of people are very happy already to knock them down. They're so young and if it was me I'd utterly freak out in their situation. However they are level headed lads, Alex is an utterly outstanding songwriter and they have all the talent any band could wish for. If you can name me any other band who have left out at least 12 other outstanding tracks from their album such as Cigarette Smoke, 7, Bigger Boys..., Space Invaders etc. I'll eat my hat! If they keep their feet on the ground they'll be around for years.

You can tell its an Oasis song because its their distinct sound,they were the first to do it,why change their own sound?Youll be first to complain about a band "trying to be oasis"

no i wont. everyone knows that every new band sounds like coldplay now anyway. who in turn sound like U2. and a bad U2 at that.

Yeh but Backstreet Boys are also Huge in japan and it seams very easy to brake that Market if you have the right campaign. All in all i do Agree. may i ask are you(zane) a music Journalist?

Yeh cant under stand why British music journalist went for X & Y. Read the New York Times review for the real story on coldplay! And as for that “talk” song. That’s an Edge Lick if ever heard one!!!

Yes i have heard of the Stone Roses,have you?Have you ever LISTENED to the stone roses more importantly?The stone roses were a working mans band,oasis simply are not,Oasis play for themselves,they write songs about life,the stone roses songs had content,a deeper issue,an underlying message.

Yes,Liam idolises the Stone Roses,but he does not base everything he does on them.He and Noel take influences from many genres and acts,they are not a Stone Roses tribute band.

As for your other comment,"All new bands sound like Coldplay"...Oh yeah,when i heard the Nizlopi album i thought "Man thats coldplay!"

Stop being so closeminded and give bands a chance before slating them simply because they are new or mainstream.Stop comparing them to bands that have been in the business for years.If you think you can do better get your lazy ass up and do something with your life.

the fact that the awards where sponsored by shockwaves says it all... complete image and fashion, nothing else.

3 months ago the kaiser chiefs would have won all thier awards and a few months before that it would have been all babyshambles, now everyone has arctic monkeys on the fúckin brain.

Agree with that, i dont know how i managed to watch the whole thing with him presenting it. Although it was nice to see bob geldof's face throughout it, if looks could kill!

am slowly but surely waking up to the nme, who i thought were supposed to be an establishment against manufactured crap, but all they do is take original bands and manufacrure them into what they want, before bringing them crashing down.

I didnt mind the arctic monkeys, how were they supposed to act? i get the impression they dont like all the PR **** anyway, they just wanna play music.

and just to finish i wouldn't have gave them best new band, and best band, i mean best new band was enough, give them that and see next year how they are and then maybe give them best band?
