Judomick posted a link to a Dog Brother "Kali Tudo" article which i found really interesting.

I had seen some of their articles and angry technique poses in Combat magazine but I was really impressed by some of the vids on their site.

I was intrigued by what they have to bring to MMA competition and it would be really cool if their stuff could start working its way into MMA and change the way we all think about our training. I'm all for progress personally.

And their "meet and fights" seem to have a seriously friendly, seriously cool vibe. Anyone here train that way?

I read about them a good few years back. I used to get subscription to
Black Belt Mag from the USA, which is a brillant MA publication.

I liked their vibe, though to me it seemed they are 80% into Stick figthing, and I suppose that is just not up there on my list just yet.

Of course I would be viewing it from SD angle (as always!!!!) .

Yeah some of that stuff is tremendous to look at. At the first boards meet that stick fighting was great fun

Myself and a member of my group fought at the European gathering a few weeks back and it is indeed a great vibe and very friendly people all round. It is a different way to train but it is fun.

Also while there is a large amount of focus on stick fighting there is a large amount of SD and MMA applications being done and more so in more recent years with the development of the Kali Tudo and Die Less Often material.

I had the pleasure of training some kali tudo with Marc and you can see Kali Tudo in the cage at the moment with a fighter pedro munhoz that he trains, the guy fights out of Black House.

Pre-Zuffa owned UFC mgmt (Bob Meyrowitz’s SEG) seriously considered promoting them back in the 90s under their banner. Supposedly it was all set up to go but the negative press and comments from John McCain on MMA in general eventually killed it because SEG felt it would seem too violent for TV viewers.

Very true it was all set to go but as the letter below shows it had to be pulled.

Had a great week with Marc visit our club in Dublin last year. Great teacher covered a lot of great material with him. Great to see he has a branch in Dublin now.

Thanks Liam I was gutted to miss that but I have spent some time training with him and I hope to have much more.

I also hope to swing by your club the odd time when I can as I have been watching your Silat for a long time and the more snippets I learn of Silat the more it impresses me.
