BF2 Crashing!!

    BF2 keeps crashing back to the desktop after random times of play! im getting really pissed off i even smashed a bit of my case by punching it! anyone any ideas why?

    happened to me once and it was that the video card was getting insufficent power.

    it's down to the new patch..best job is to reinstall..i had to do it as well..just remember to save your profile settings

    I already have a punching bag its just not as close as the case! and my gfx card is in my sig ;)

    Right, are you using EAX or an Audigy 2 by any chance?

    You need to update the drivers the newest ones (not the OpenAL betas)

    Then what you need to do is get the file openal32.dll from the drivers, and copy it over your BFOpenAl.dll, make a backup though!

    This fixed the crashing bug on mine and two other PCs... good luck

    have you tried running your rig with just the 2 sticks of 2 x PC4000 BallistiX DDR 512MB take out the 2 x PC3500 Patriot DDR 512MB?

    i'd try benchmarking with just the gig and then with both sets in and see if there is much of a difference (the only reason I ask is on account of you saying your opty is acting up & the game crashing - it really gets a bit weird with ram so it does)

    Yeah i should have changed my sig, i got my opty @ 2.50ghz with the 2 sticks of patriot...

    Well the 1.21 patch said it will be fixing issues with ATI cards. I know a guy with ATI whose game wont run at all with the new patch, he has to wait for the 1.21

    imagine EA releasing a patch and forgetting about half of the video card market.

    Haha yeah total idiots! but it worked ok for a while was crashing after about 2 hrs play now its like crashing every 10mins
