    RTÉ Television have confirmed that Jane Gogan will be the new Commissioning Editor, Drama, RTÉ Television, with effect from 6th March. Jane Gogan replaces Mary Callery, who has been in the position for six years and who resigned recently to pursue a career in the private sector.
    Clare Duignan, Director of Programmes, RTÉ Television, said: “The role of Drama Commissioning Editor is a key appointment for RTÉ Television. We are proud of our tradition of commissioning strong and resonant Irish stories for the viewing public to enjoy: From medical dramas like ‘’The Clinic’ to small town universal stories like ‘Pure Mule’; from serial drama like ‘Fair City’ to factually-based dramas like ‘Stardust’. We are delighted that Jane Gogan, who has a broad and diverse experience across film and television broadcasting, as well as a deep understanding of drama and the industry has agreed to come on board. I greatly look forward to working with her; consolidating our strong position in drama commissioning and bringing more innovative, entertaining and insightful dramas to the screen.”

    Jane Gogan, new Commissioning Editor, Drama, RTÉ Television, said: “This is a very interesting time to take this job. There is so much developed talent and so many young, talented, creative people in Ireland at the moment who I hope to meet and work with to produce drama that will engage our viewers.”

    Jane Gogan has enjoyed a distinguished career in broadcasting and film in Ireland. She has produced documentary and drama programming, has been a member of the Arts Council, Chairperson of Film Base and is a founding member of Film Makers Ireland. Commissioning Editor for TV3 for the past 7 years, she has commissioned and co-produced titles such as ‘Wonderscreen’, ‘Popcorn’, ‘Chasing the Lions with Hector and Risteard’ and ‘The Brendan Courtney Show’, as well as investing in feature films such as ‘Bloody Sunday’, ‘Mapmaker’, ‘Studs’, ‘Isolation’, ‘Watermelon’, and ‘Honeymooners’.

    Interesting move from Jane Gogan. She might of got board in TV3. 7 years and not that many commissions.
