Fairplay EA and Irish clans/communities

Just thinking how much we all still love BF2 after so long.
How long is it realeased now?
We put up with EA bull with dodgy patches and still come back to this game.
We wait for patches to fix patches but yes yet again we still flock back to BF2.
Only last week EA announced they hit 52,000 players actually simultanously playing the game.
Our GFF server is full everynight,im sure all the TiG,BTC etc ranked servers are pretty much the same.
I think its great to see it so popular and even more so its great to see an ever expanding Irish BF2 playing community.
Regarding the Irish community i think Irish based clans like ourselves @ GFF,TiG,NrG,1st-ib,ASCII,Irishwan etc [sorry if i left anyone out] should take a pat on the back also for providing a platform for the Irish BF2 player.
Also for once im going to praise EA/Dice for giving us such a great game that provides us all with such great fun.
Heres to many more great nights of BF2.

God I couldnt agree more. Personally public BF2 is really crap. I dig the team game, and public BF2 is not a team game. Everyone is out to earn their latest badge or uber unlock, and its fecking ruining the game.

From an aspect of fun BF2 is poor. Anyone who played a lot of BF42 or BFV will agree that there was far more fun in those games.

As for support then I also dont agree. EA/Dice have made a bollox of this game. Their support is just fecking crap. Look at the debacle with the latest patch. It was leaked and they warned anyone running a ranked server that they would close them down if the server was open before a certain time etc. Piss off EA!!

The only reason I play the game is from a clan match point of view. Where proper team work can happen and everyone uses stock weapons. Clans are leaving BF2 very quickly as it isnt offering them much at all.

EA can and could improve the game, however people are looking to the modding community for that. Problem is EA have just basically stopped supporting the Mod community by firing Lawerence Brown, the mod support guy and shifting mod support to Dice, whos track record on this front is very poor.

So you see I dont agree with you when you sing plaudits for a game that in my opinion does not deserve them.

You're right about one thing, and that's that compared to BF1942 or BFV, the game just isn't FUN. Unless you manage to get into a decent squad on public servers, forget it. BF1942 and BFV, they just had something that is lacking in BF2. May sound stupid, but I can't remember the last time I laughed while playing BF2, BFV especially used to be great crack...

Agreed Pongo. However DCON CTF is mental fun for BF2. They have tweaked the maps etc and the game is mental fun. I must organise a game some night.

it has the potential to be a great game, but they f**ked up by releasing it early without checking for the bugs. then when they tried fixing the bugs they made it problem worse.

    Agreed.
I remember avidly waiting to play the demo when it was released, stayed up til about 5am trying to find a server with decent speeds, played it, and loved it. But after the initial 'WOW!' factor wore off (fancy graphics, beefy weapons, finally having organised squads even in pub games) i began to notice the cracks in the game.
Now dont get me wrong, no online FPS is perfect (alot of people, cully especially, would argue that my current fave game Dod:s is broken beyond belief), but what i get from dod, and what i got from BFV, was jsut pure fun. (even getting raped in matches!). The same, im sorry to say just cant be said for BF2.
EA have really fecked this game up releasing untested, buggy patches, buggier add on packs, and milking the players for every penny they can (booster packs, for f*cks sake?? in BFV we called it 'a patch').
The medals system is good and prvides a nice incentive to keep playing, but as fairy said, it lends itself to certain abuses, I.E 'ZOMG I GOT MY SPEK OPS BADG ROFL'.
Clan play, is probalby the only way ive enjoyed this game. Pubbing just is not fun. Simple as. The game is broken, and getting broker by the day. (or by the patch)

I am still having great fun with it .maybe that is more due to the fact that I am playing it with about 10 m8s most nights , but I still have laugh out loud moments most nights .

I also agree that it has many faults but for now it's still my favourite .

Well my tupenny bit is comparing bfv to bf2 is i have many many memories of pissing myself laughing on ts with bfv..just something about it...whereas Bf2 is just soooo serious. Now again i do love Bf2 but without the serious humor its gettin harder to enjoy other than the clan matches.

Now I may have only got this game last weekend but I've laughed with glee quite a lot since and as recently as last night when I came upon a server in Korea (about 6 guys just messing about on the map with the power station on the hill). They all had a bit of english but one of them was wondering if it was possible to fly under the wooden bridge - everyone thought nah, no way but we all took quite polite turns in taking the cobra up and trying it - I got it on my third try and spent the rest of the evening doing it again and again or standing on the bridge and watching everyone else try it. Smiles all around!

I'm usually a GTR/GTL online racer but this has taken over my broadband completely. I love this game!

By the way, anyone recruiting helicopter pilots?
    :)

For fun we could organise a one night BFV Comp between 1stIB, NRG and tig. Pick a couple of maps etc and kick the **** out of each other.
