"Amadou and Mariam's soulful, spirited singing and accessible bluesy songs are irresistible live... the sense is of a band who have only just started and have a vertigo-inducing potential to be one of the top acts in the world" - The Telegraph (Live review from Monday night)

The African music superstars and Grammy Nominees, AMADOU & MARIAM are the subject of "Dimanche à Bamako" ("Sunday in Bamako"), a new film documentary now on selected release in cinemas throughout the UK & Ireland that includes two screenings at Dublin's IFI this Saturday and Sunday (1.00pm).

The hour-long film was shot in Amadou & Mariam's native Mali during the summer of 2004 and chronicles the making of their album, "Dimanche à Bamako", Africa's biggest global hit of 2005.

The album - which reached number two in the French charts - has now sold over 500,000 copies around the world and is still gaining
    momentum.

The film includes special behind-the scenes footage of Amadou & Mariam in the studio with the legendary French-Latin artist and producer Manu Chao.

The film's soundtrack features the hits "Sénégal Fast Food", "La Realité" and "Coulibaly", plus "Kira", an unreleased song performed live by Manu Chao.

"Dimanche à Bamako" was directed by Marc-Antoine Moreau and is in French and the Malian language, Bambara, with English sub-titles.

The screenings correspond with Amadou & Mariam's UK & Ireland shows on the twelve-date African Soul Rebels UK Tour 2006 with Souad Massi and Emmanuel Jal (*just Emmanuel Jal for Olympia show).

Amadou & Mariam have also been shortlisted for two BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music, the results of which will be announced this
Saturday, 25th February with an Award Winners concert to follow at London's Brixton Academy on 7th April 2006.

The duo were also nominated for the "Best Contemporary World Music Album" 2006 Grammy Award.
