Yep, was living in Malmo, Sweden for 2 months before Christmas, the offys are called 'Systems Bolaget' It sucks! Looking for a take out on a Saturday and the fecker is closed!!! Im not sure what age you are but they ask EVERYBODY for I.D. Myself(Im 24) and 2 other friends went into the 'Systems Bolaget' and I was buying the beer, just because the lads were beside me in the queue they were asked too! Different age groups are alowed different percentages of beer. If you're 18-20 you can only drink whats called '3 percenters' between 20-23 you can then get '4/5 percenters'...after that you are entitled to buy spirits etc....Hope Ive helped!:)

The reason for that is that the swedes and other nordic types drink far too much. Alcohol is not cheap either, they have very high taxes in sweeden and worse still in Norway.

    rockee..nah that's wrong..
when your 20 you can buy spirits and everything..
and under that your almost not allowed into systembolaget

    Sweden's a great place.

As for the off-licences...you can get beer in the local supermarket, but it's only up to about 3.2%.

Don't worry about it, just go!!!! (Especially if you like blondes ;) ).

Doesn't look too good on the gargle front but im sure those stunning blondes would more than make up for it,was thinking of going myself someday,is Stockholm dearer than Dublin? Are the locals friendly to tourists?

Any Swedes ive met have been sound enough.

Terribly sorry then...knew it was something like that anyway. In Sweden you gotta watch out for the bicycles more than the cars! EVERYBODY f@cking cycles!!! Went to a nightclub a few days before I went back to Ireland and all these gorgeous girls pull up outside with their bikes...was kinda weird to see, especially as I was in the land of Irish girls with fake tan a few days later!!! The Swedes have a strange manner, they can be nice but you always get the feeling that you cant step on their toes. By the way, all the girls arent blonde...and they dont mind talking about sex!

Maybe javelin could help cos she's Swedish! But when I was living there it was good craic! Mind you I was MILES away from Stockholm.Living in Malmo was cool because Copenhagen, Denmark was 30mins by train away. Malmo is a small, easy to get around city and the transport system is second to none. (as is the case almost everywhere in Sweden.) I was only in Stockholm for a few hours...what part of Sweden are you from javelin???

I'm from a bit north of stockholm..like 2 hours drive..
havent really been out drinking in sthlm though so I'm not the best of help in that subject..
but tbh..the swedes who are out travelling are always nice and friendly..but the swedes who stay in sweden(espec sthlm) are a bit posh I must say.
but they might be charmed by the cute irish accent..
if you just leave the tracksuit home! ;)

are they really all great looking?

By the way, I've heard, on average that Swedish women have the smallest breasts in Europe.

    Can you advise?

Yes, but it's worth it. It's a beautiful city; infinitely cleaner than Dublin.

We paid about €6 for (less than) a pint of local brew in both Gamla Stan & Södermalm. Spirits and cocktails are dearer again.

That might be true on average; but they certainly don't binge drink like us.
In all my time there, the only drunken @ssholes I ever came across were Brits.

It's a class place, definitely go.

haha. I dunno..its mixed I suppose..some of my friends have small, some have big and some have really big.

alot of ladies are good looking. but watch out; the swedish guys are great looking as well

To be honest javelin, I'm not really interested in the Swedish guys.

If you say they're great looking, that's fair enough, but just not my scene man

Yeah, in Skane my friends Per and Klas were giving out shít about 'those f@cking Stockholmians!' The accent did work, although a lot of Swedes still think that Ireland and the U.K. are joined at the hip! The tracksuit definitly stayed at home!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Rockee

I was tired of Ireland javelin and I fell in love with a Swedish girl at my friends wedding! We kept in touch with phone calls and emails and stuff..so I decided to give it a try, worked out for a while but you are 100% correct, its very hard to find work in Sweden. Ireland is so easy! Will you be watching Ireland v Sweden on Wednesday???:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 65 ✭✭javelin

    Yeah I really want to.
but there's no tickets left..but we're gonna try it anyway..see if someone is selling outside..
    that's just a match that we can't miss ;)

otherwise I'll suppose it could be fun watching it in a pub as well?

    OOhhh!
Do I have to say???:p I think Ireland would be very lucky to win....Zlatan and Larrsson are playing well at the moment. Then again the players will be wanting to prove themselves to Steve Staunton the new manager...should be interesting!

i've been up to sweden twice last month (work then holiday)
stockholm is a great city - food/bars/clubs/art/shopping/transport/everything else

    beer isn't that expensive any more - its about 52sek a beer - and 9sek -> 1 euro

spirits are dear though - you can pay around 82sek for 4cl of spirits
