My ma was 48 last friday so I got a huge basket of flowers delivered to her gaf.. in Cape Town. She seemed happy enough and it only cost me 25 quid :D

    Square Uuuurgh :(

    ;)

Piece of jewellery?? Perfume?? Flowers? Chocolate?... What sort of budget are you looking at here??

jewellery, meh, perfume, i guess, flowers - she'll say she would have preferred the money, chocolates - i'd probably end up eating them!

    budget? err, 100?

Get a huge pic of you and her together (like 4x7 foot).. or just you - depending on your ego needs :D

A simple diamond necklace should suffice - nothing too flashy. Oh, wait, €100?

Think about her pleasures and desires. Does she love to read? Maybe a book token - not very personal, but if she's a mad reader she'll gloat, especially if you accompany it with something pretty as well.

Steer clear of things that define her as your caregiver: do not give her a cookery book, even if she loves to cook, and even the most beautiful pot or apron is iffy.

Does she like to bedizen herself? Maybe a token to get "colourised" (I think that's what it's called - it's what El Presidente did when she first came into office. She'd been a grey-dressing frump, and after she went to a consultant to tell her what colours really suited her, suddenly she was looking like an icon (fashion, not religion) in subtle taupes and aubergine shades.

Does she love music? A ticket to Oxegen or the Bach cantatas or the Lassu Scholars?

Or maybe she's been hinting hopefully about a particular expensive object, and you could buy it for her?

I always manage to 'forget' my mum's birthday.

Which is quite a talent considering that its the same day as mine but she seems to have got used to my ignoring everyones birthdays now.

If you're not sure, and you have 100, you could get her a few smaller presents - CD , Book, Scarf/ gloves, flowers, set of nice "body shop" products, gift voucher, nice purse/wallet, silver jewellery, diary/calendar/filofax, juicer ...

ah the squares not so bad. They have nice things in Deborah Joy on the 3rd floor and also uin birthdays. Why not get a card and something cute in birthdays and then get her a voucher for roches or oasis? or they have great make up in boots I think theres a free gift on if u buy 2 things from some of the ranges

Got me mam a massage in a local spa place thingy. She loved it!

Best bet is to get a voucher that she has no choice but to use soon or she'll forget about it:v:

Its not being deviant  its just sparing someone’s feelings and/or appreciating the thought rather than the monetary value or usefulness of the gift :D

    We're like that you see
