I want to lay clip board in my bedroom. The floor is currently carpeted and slightly uneven. Does anyone have advice for a first time user?

Get toungue and groove chipboard, woodglue/pva and 50mm screws.
Lay the boards dry first and see if the boards wobble and need packing if so pack until stable and level. Put glue along the tongue and use a piece of 4x2 with a hammer and beat them together so they are firmly butted and screw to the joists.
This way you will get a quiet, non-squeaky floor.
