Anyone playing this? Its owning my life at the moment.

Its been ages since I played something that was so funny. Lots of cute little references all over the shop. And the level in the lungfish's brain that was jaw droppingly brilliant.

    Ah, "Lungfishopolis" classic!

I waited ages to play this game, and with all that anticipation, I was bound to be dissapointed, but no, it's brilliant!

I'm not a big "platform game" fan, so some of the later levels had parts which were frustrating, but that's to be expected I suppose.

A true classic, best game of 2006 so far.

Actually, I think I might even go back and play it again right now...

I got it on Sunday and have been playing it a lot...

There aren't enough genuinely funny games made... This is very well scripted and has some great voice acting.

The amount of unbridled imagination on display is amazing too...

I just did the level inside Gloria's brain last night... it's very clever all the switching of sets and scripts to progress.

Can't wait to try the Napoleon level this evening.

Lungfishopolis - there are so many cool references in there its untrue. The whole Fox-style bogus reporting, and the Ultraman references in the boss fight.

Getting stuck in Boyds brain, lookign for the Milkman stuff. Very frustrating (what to do after you got the rifle).

Scripting & Voice acting is spot on. IIRC its the same guy who did Monkey Island/Day of the Tentacle? That explains the quality of the humour.

Frustration wise: I find it difficult to restore your health (your 'lives' counter or whatever its called in game). The boss fights can really take it out of you until you figure out the technique. THe platform aspect isnt bad - PC games can really suck as platformers (the only good ones I know of are Beyond Good & Evil & Lego Star Wars). The disco fever was a bit frustrating until I mastered levitation (which is actually a lot of fun).

Positive aspects: There seems to be a lot of playing in this game. It certainly feels like the game has had a good innings yet I am obviously not that far into it.

But theres a lot of loving in this game - thought I should pimp it a bit.

And, fantastically, if you get stuck, you can take out the strip of bacon and wave it around to get help from Ford Cruller.

(Even though I've played the game, that still sounds crazy!)

If not enough people try out this game it'll be a crime against..... against...... Tim Schafer

Oh yes.. I was stuck on that one for ages... You need to get into the post office... have a go at guessing the code and see what happens.

You should also have the cobweb duster by now... so be sure to save up and get it if you don't already have it... The devining rod makes finding arrow heads a lot quicker.

For the first little while, I really wasn't seeing what all the big fuss was about this game. It was at about hour 3 of playing that I finally started to fall in love with it (roughly where I first started the Lungfish part). I've had to resort to gamefaqs twice though - once where I hadn't leveled up to the point where I could get invisibility and go into the milkman's house, which kind of struck me as being a little weak.

Got this at the same time as Conker: Live and Reloaded and I've played them both for around the same amount of time. Psychonauts puts Conker to shame.

I picked it up on Saturday along with Shadow of the Colosus but so far haven't had a chance to play either. Gonna get stuck into it next week though.

Yep, and that's probably the version I'll end up getting (even though my Xbox is feeling desperately unloved at the moment).

As an old school Monkey Island/Full Throttle etc etc I was really lookign forward to this, but problem is that the game stalls on me after a few minutes play (playing on Pc DVD) every time. Latest patches are presnt, and its not a graphical problem (have turned everything right down and the game still stalls the whole computer after a few minutes). Anyone else had the same problem?

Me too. Such a pain in the ass to install. Reminds me of one of the old Indiana Jones games on like six floppys.

Really, is it more expensive to make one dvd than all those cd's?

Anyway, fantastic game. Was a bit disappointed at the final boss, ridiculously easy. So many great levels though, lungfishopolis, Milkman, Waterloo, Black velvet, I can't remember a bad one really.

I didn't really do enough exploring the first time around. I think I'll play through it again.

I've been playing this since I cleared SOTC at the weekend, and I'm really loving it, it's so hilarious throughout and lungfishopolis is jut about the funniest thing since the giant stone head in fallout 2-"Oh no, the matress factory!" Tim schafer is now my favourite person in the games industry. It's such a shame so few people are buying it though.

Nope, but for some reason american PC releases still seem to be mostly CD-only... weirdos.

That is something that I couldn't figure out either till I read this, it seems the DVD versions don't sell that well for some reason and they even get returns from people who were expecting CD's. That is weird given how DVD drives should be in most PC's in the USA at this stage.

Psychonauts is one of my favourite games the lungfish, milkman & napoleon levels are some of the best I've seen in a game, it is such a pitty that the game didnt do well at retail given the critical praise it recieved.

There is a fan site for those interested along with a walkthrough here if your stuck. I never did manage to collect everything to get access to the secret level but I think I might try it again.
