Don't know if this has been posted yet. Apologies if it has.

O2 Experience (on Grafton St. at least) are offering:
    • 400 off Powerbooks
    • 300 off iMacs
That puts a 12" Powerbook at 1119, which isn't half bad!

This is while stocks last, I'm assuming they want to clear off old stock for the new (crap) Intel based ones.

Bit off topic but can you install Windows on Intel based Apples ?

Would like to get a Mac but I do some .Net development and would like to have that option available to me.

There are a couple of competitions going online as to who will be the first to "crack" the intel based mac and install windows on it. Nobodys done it yet as far as I know, and apple certinely wouldn't approve.

It's in all the O2 Experience stores. (Blanch SC, Henry St & Grafton St being the ones that spring to mind)

And those new MacBooks don't look half bad. The "Intel" part can't be all that bad. Faster, smaller laptops? Who can complain ?

You could always run virtual PC on them. If you have a decent amount of RAM it'll be fine.

They've gotten windows running on them .. I think what they haven't done is enabled a dual boot system but I could be wrong ... :)

They haven't yet. As has been said there are competitions to get it done. The problem being that Apple use EFI instead of BIOS and Windows doesn't support EFI - though Vista might, possibly.

Also, Apple don't care. They've said as much. You can do what you want with it. I wouldn't be installing windows on my Powerbook (were it an option). I haven't even remotely considered putting Linux on it even. :) I've enough other machines for Windows/Linux.

    I stand corrected ... :)

I checked for the article I had read before ...

and he says theoretically dammit :)

Apple make 90% of their profit on hardware sales, not software. They'd prefer for you to buy their hardware, and install whatever you like on it, rather than you buying a PC dedicated for being a Windows box.
The only issue might be installing Apple software on a PC, but I can't see this happening tbh.

No at the moment you can't. Microsoft don't have a version of virtual PC, and it won't run through rosetta (even if it did, that would be horrible).
