I'd like to say thanks Mark Leonard for coming up with the MMA league and making it so succesful and for giving many irish martial artists the chance to test their skills out in a friendly competitive environment.

Unlike the intimidation of fighting in big MMA shows in smoky, noisy, dark rooms, the MMA League is a great place for us all to figure out our weaknesses and work on them.

Without the MMA League I'd never have competed in MMA- thats for definate. Personally I cant wait to get a chance to return to the mats in Galway, Cork, Dublin, Limerick or Belfast.

Mark has done a lot for Irish MMA with this format and maybe that isn't recognised enough. MMA competition is normally the preserve of the elite and super tough yet now there is a tiered progression which is undoubtedly helping more people get into the ring or just steer their training

So to Mark and all of the Point Blank peeps a big thanks from all of us.

I agree. MMA league is great stuff. It's run really well and everyone is really respectful there and treats everyone who competes with the upmost respect, win or lose.

I for one will be competing again this year. Will have to wait til round 2 as I need time to get back in shape, but I'll be competing for sure.

I dont know colum i think everyone in the MMA circle greatly appreciates what mark has done for us all.

And those who dont need only look to recent professional events to see that many former competitors from the league have made the step up to professional events.

Tournament organisation is difficult at the best of times. But pulling together martial artists from varying backgrounds and styles is one hell of an achievement.

I was going to take my MMA bow this coming Saturday but unfortunately education is my mistress this weekend:( . Still, there's always Limerick.

Then it is I who is lying comparitively fallow! I don't have any more time to train so I guess I'll have to take the "other" route. I'm off to the kitchen to make some creatine breakfast, then it's 'roid brunch followed by ketamine lunch. (that last one's just for fun;)) In truth though it sounds like you need a woman,....

Mark deserves a huge amount of credit alright, it’s amazing how much the league has come on in a short space of time. He helped me out a lot when I first got involved in MMA, and still does. Fair play Mark! Even put me in those superfights basically because I kept annoying him about the rules, (the first of which lasted WAY longer than 1 minute)!

Thanks for all the kind words guys, I appreciate the sentiments more than I can convey on here.

Hopefully the League will continue to grow and we will see a steady trickle of MMA League "Graduates" move up to full rules shows and excel.

I've have to say, I've competed in a lot of competitions in a lot of different Martial Arts, and the MMA League is by far the best run amateur event I have ever been next nor near.

Props to Mark and the Galway posse.
