I know I should really post this in the events section but due to the short notice I think it needs all the publicity it can get.

As most people are aware V.N. have their monthly E50 one rebuy OR top up this Sunday (26th Feb). Reg from 12pm till 12:50pm- game starts 1pm. 30 min blinds till 6pm then 40min.

Anyway, the point of this post.........

I am aranging single table freezout sats in The Anglers Rest on Monday 20th.

    Meet:7:45pm
    Game starts: 8pm
    Entry E20 (no reg fee)

    10 players per table- (E200).
1st and 2nd recieve ticket for Sunday and voucher for rebuy/top up.

    Chips: 5,000

    Blinds: 25mins as follows:
    25/50
    50/100
    100/200
    150/300
    200/400
    300/600
    500/1,000
    700/1,500
    1,000/2,000
    1,500/3,000
    2,000/4,000
    3,000/6,000

I already have 6 names. I reckon we will have aprox 20 players so two tables of ten. If it urns out we have 14, 15, 16 etc. players we may put two tables of 7 or 8 what ever is neccessary and makes sense.

The entry fee will be adjusted accordingly ie-
if there are seven players on a table the entry will be E21.50- so 1st gets entry and rebuy while 2nd gets entry only. We will have to just work it out on the night depending on how many show up. All these decisions will be made through players discussion.

If anyone is interested in playing it will make life easier if you expressed interest here in the forum.

Apologies for the late anouncement..........it was a spur of the moment decision on friday night. I think Sandy may have mentioned it here somewhere.

I really regret not just putting this into the events section.......... If I could move it now I would. In advance........ sorry administrators

    1. The sub forum was created for a reason.
    2. This board does not exist to provide you with publicity.

Why I feel the need to justify myself to someone whose posting history consists almost entirely of drunken shíte I don't know. How and ever. The OP knowing full well where this thread should originally have been posted decided that it was perfectly okay for him to post it in the main forum becuase in this case he "really needed the publicity". I dislike the fact that there is unpaid advertising on these board (I hate advertising) though I understand and accept the rationale for it when it comes to tournaments as it benefits the community here. I find it sickening that people being granted such leeway by the administrators of this community can deliberately break the rules set down for them, particularily given than I've never seen one of them express a modicum of gratitude for benefits granted to them. I said as much and it wasn't a joke.

in the year and a half that I have posted here I have never made a personal attack on anyone. In fact I try to go out of my way to be helpful to new people. There are have been times when I would have liked to but bullying on the internet is too childish. Instead I shall ask the mods here to decide what to do with these two posts. And take it from there.
Just because you have been around here for a long while does not give you the right to ever speak to anyone like that. However, for the moment I shall say no more about it and respectfully ask the mods to make their decision.

This has to be one of the most hypocritical posts I've ever read. A certain thread regarding the VN Team Event comes to mind. Also, I don't ever recall you posting anything regarding opinions on poker strategies and the like. I wouldn't call you the most helpful poster on the site (not that I am either btw). Anyway, I didn't see DapperGent's post as a personal attack more of a point of view.

PS: I actually thought Dapper's original post was quite funny in a sadistic way

In my opinion those kind of posts are deliberate attacks against people to try belittle them without having to stand face to face with the person in question.

I think a lot of that goes on on this site, too much. (thats not an attack at anyone incase somebody replies with a smart ass observation)

We outsiders musn't upset 'The Clique'!

Sensitive? From what? When have I ever been upset on this site? Think its everyone else who's a bit sensitive on here.

Maybe you have to be outside the Clique, looking in, to realise how petty it gets in here.

Actually now I'm sounding sensitive so I'll stop.:) Sorry.

    1) I accept the fact thet I was aware of where this thread should have been posted origionaly. I was not advertising these sats for any personal gain what so ever....... I gave up my night off and drove to the venue, set up tables and provided people with an opertunity to win their entry and rebuy for sundays game. There was no reg fee or rake taken. When posting this thread I scincerly wanted to offer people a cheap way in to Sundays game. With this in mind I wanted as many people as possible to be aware of the sats. It would have been a lot easier for me to say nothing and take my night off.

    2) While you might hate people advertising on this forum it is indirectly one of its functions- a function that benafits the posters and advertisers alike. I have never crossed the boundries before and I try to remain conservative and to-the-point. When I submitted the thread I instantly realised it was a bad idea not putting it in the events thread. I didn't intensionally abuse the forum........ as I said- these sats were non-comercial and I genuinly wanted to offer them to as many people as possible.

    3) I am a relatively new poster in this forum and as such am still finding my way. While I haven't publicly anounced my gratitude for the poertunity to advertise here I have had comunications via "pm" with variuos posters and administrators. I have always thanked them for their help and support.

I guess for someone reading my response here you might think I am feeling defensive about this issue- "I'm not". You have never met me and don't know the type of person I am. Your response to my post was a needless personal attack. I hope that some day you find the world you are looking for but untill then I guess you'll just have to remain in this world with rest of us..... usually it is a happy little world

Dapper agreed with you in that advertising on here is beneficial to every one yet as a 'new poster' who is benefiting from the boards service you still chose to go against a service in the specially created forum "Tournaments/Events" and post in the main forum. This IS you abusing the service that is being offered here to you.

    well observed mr shark! :)
    _____

As VN pointed out, this was a last minute thing thrown together for the benefit of poker players, not for the benefit of VN. Personally i think the post should have stayed in the main forum so it could have gotten as much attention as it deserved. I appreciate there is a sub forum for poker tournaments/events, but the main forum remains about poker, and this event was a once off with maybe a day or two time to advertise, whats wrong with it being in the main section, its still on topic... and if someone has a problem with it being there.... DON'T READ IT!!!!

well played to VN for running a satalite, just upset I didnt get a chance to play. But in future you should run $0.30 Multi table rebuy turbo feeder satalite's into the €20 main event grand final satalite.... i've been playing PPP for far too long!! :p:p

I'm not going to address some of the comments here but regards where this was originally posted I accept the reasons for that but folks I've said it before and I'll say it again it WILL be seen here by those who give a damn. I think people worry it won't be but I'm pretty confident that it will. When you post here it will also be seen at the top of the main poker forum as the most recent post here. From that point of view you can plan the title so that it will attract attention out in the main forum a la "Today Only - Satellites...." etc.

Considering the graciousness offered to Culchie's team at Vegas Nights competition last week I feel physically sick to be considered a 'boardy' today. I will not condone anyone being spoken to in that manner. You can be sure Luke Ivory or Mike Lacey wouldn't be addressed in that way if he accidentally posted information for the benefit of readers in the wrong section.

I want answers as to why a mod on this site considers it acceptable to hide behind his anonymity and treat a tournament director in this manner. And why Boards hasn't already apologised for allowing this insult to remain unaddressed despite it being in direct contravention of the very principles of this public forum. And I will get them.

Right now I want to apologise to Nick personally for recommending this site as a friendly place to post his news, as I did after the competition with Culchie last week. I am genuinely disgusted with the situation as it stands and ashamed to be a member here.

If this situation is not dealt with properly this forum will end up with only newbies and the embittered. A number of people have contacted me regarding the negative cliqueism that sours the atmosphere here. They are as experienced, and more, in this game as I am yet prefer not to bother posting and then having to deal with anonymous attacks. And right now I completely see their point of view.

This is the most serious post that I have had to write here and I can assure you that it will be my last if this situation is not completely clarified to my satisfaction.

At the very least I want to see an apology offered from Boards to Nick from Vegas Nights for this disgrace.

That is all I have to say until I receive my replies from a number of people who have an interest in this forum.

    Des.

Regarding my own posts you can re-read any you like, I say again that I have never attacked any single person on their own. My constant, though general, insults and taunts towards students, I stand by.

I have also given generously of my time, money and advice to many posters here so do not accept that the majority of my contributions have been drunken ****e. the minority maybe.

    *sigh*

Firstly, I've edited Dappers post to remove the last comment. Unfortunately since the thread now rather depends on the comment to make sense i have not gone through other peoples posts to delete the quotation of it because that invalidates their points.
While its not the nastiest things I've seen written here its not civil (and Doc you proved not long ago you had a pretty vicious tongue yourself and don't hide behind the "I was only talking about students in general" because thats like saying "I was only talking about Nigerians in general" :) )

Secondly VN know the rules and could have deleted the post and reposted it if they had so wanted to. Come on Nick you arent fooling anyone with the "I only want to make everyone aware of it" lark. Cilit Bang only want to make me aware of their powerful cleaner :)
Its an easy mistake to make so I'm not p*ssed off or anything but in future, please everyone keep announcements to the Events forum, thats what its there for.

I don't have internet at home right now so I'm only one once or twice a day. Muso brought this to my attention about an hour ago and its being dealt with now. Everyone relax and I believe that the left-hand-twist approach is best for panty-dewadding.

to be fair to Doc us students are nothing but trouble!!! not to be trusted i tells ya!! if you see us students walking down the street, run! we're unwashed and will probably steal your money and talk nonsense!! but man we're good at poker!! :p:p

i've no problem with people being opinionated (like students!) once its not offensive. IMO there were things said to VN at the start of this thread which were offensive and as doc says an apology would be appropriate. but we're all friends here... !! why cant we all get along!?!?!

One should not have to apologise for stating a personal opinion.

A message board should not have to make an apology for the personal opinions of one of its members.

Folks, Sorry for causing all this.

I origionally posted this thread in the main forum with best intentions for players. I fully accept that it was the wrong place to post it and as I said at the bottom of the origional post instantly regreted posting it there.

I do feel things got needlessly out-of-hand. I understand some long-time posters clashed as a result of my actions........ I regret this and hope there is no long term damage done between these people.

You are getting good publicity out of it though :D

The one point I will make is that if it was a poster with a post count of 13 as opposed to several thousand who made the comment earlier in this thread there would have been a public 'do this again and get a ban' post from a mod. I have seen these threats for much less abusive posts.

I don't think boards admins/mods have to apologise for this comment appearing on the forum, but a warning such as we see regularly doled out to (mostly) newer posters might have been appropriate imo.

Might not be a bad idea to run Fridays anglers tourney as satellite. Maybe take €450 out of the prize fund and give everyone on the final table a ticket?

or a rebuy ticket to anyone who already has a ticket?

I think this is a pretty unfair on Lafortezza, Muso and Dev. I don't honestly think there's much of a case for a warning or temp banning for my original post at all and would like to see a link to where the above have been inconsistent. I don't think I'm above a banning at all or anything stupid like that having been banned at times from a number of forums on boards and been totally site banned for a time as well.

Being totally big up in the clique hasn't paid off at ****ing all I can tell you. I'm going to totally stop the brown nosing from now on it's not worth it.

Lastly I'd like to say that I think VEGASNIGHTS (apart from his original post) is one of the few people who has conducted themselves well in this thread. Myself included.

5Star, yes I treat long time users with a touch more gentleness then new users. Particularly if they have done stuff for the community in the past. Why shouldnt I? Respect isnt something you just get an equal portion of when you arrive. Its something you earn over time. In this case, I've tried to find the middle ground and I'm happy with my resolution and it seems so are the protagonists.

DapperGent isn't a mod of the poker forum, when he posts on this forum he's just another member like you. Why should boards.ie apologise for anything? Can you elaborate on these principles you mention?

This place is perfectly friendly if you follow the rules. The Poker Tournaments/Events sub-forum isn't optional, why have it if people will be allowed post Tournament details in the main forum.
If you are ashamed to be a member here, feel free to leave.
I have no idea where all this talk of cliqueism came from. Feel free to tell me who exactly these cliques contain and how exactly the contribute negatively to the poker forum. Until you do I'll assume you're just spouting hot air.
This is the most serious post that I have had to write here and I can assure you that it will be my last if this situation is not completely clarified to my satisfaction.

There you go again making demands as if people owe you something personally. Speaking as a regular poster on this forum ( not as a mod ), I think you should stick your satisfaction somewhere safe.
Regarding my own posts you can re-read any you like, I say again that I have never attacked any single person on their own. My constant, though general, insults and taunts towards students, I stand by.

I agree I have never (that I remember) seen you post any insulting or abusive posts. You've never said a bad word against anyone.
Similarly, in my opinion, your posts quite possibly contain the lowest poker content to drunken nonsense ratio of all the poker forum regulars. I've received comments from other members that you could be deserving of a warning for your posting style.

Back on topic to the original point of this thread. If Vegas Nights feels he has been hard done by, or bad treated by members of this forum he's free to stop posting his tournament information here. I doubt very much he will, and I'd even go so far to suspect that he's thinking this whole thread is a terrible waste of time. And he'd be right.

    Mountains and molehills tbh.
