way smaller than the orignal sky disk [the black one]
    i was suprized

could that dish be used to get ftv ?
or if not what could it be used for

Was it a solid dish or a wire mesh ?

At a total guess it was horizontal and used for wireless internet.

30cm would appear to be the absolute minimum, see the following...

    http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page17.htm

The Astra 2 birds have the strongest signal in the UK but I would not like to chance anything less than 40cm. I would be interested in his reception reports though if it is a 30cm...

from the link bauderline gave me it looked like a The Kerstan Mini, but not really

but it looks exaclty like the normal sky dish but smaller

    a mini version?

I wonder if one of these portable yokes 40/50cm versions would be any good for a property near Marbella in Spain for picking up Nilesat at 7W. I think it has the MBC channel which shows some good films.... must check out that footprint again.....

It was possibly the Zone 1 Sky Minidish, that's primarily used in England. A Zone 1 will work in Ireland too, though not as reliable a signal as a Zone 2, as it's smaller. In fact, even in England, the Zone1 is known to have issues in inclement weather.

I've seen a few very small Lidl camping syetm dishes clamped to balconies in Limerick. Must be not much bigger than 35cm. Can't imagine it works well when there is heavy rain.

the lidl dishes don't come with a wall mount they come with a little (whats it called) sucky thingy that holds onto your window.

iv'e seen a good few zone1 sky dishes though

Lidl dishes do come with wall mountings , I have one myself.
It is not too bad at picking up Astra 1 and 2 even in the rain, but its a bit bad in the wind.

Either a 2nd dish (minimum 60cm if you want to watch when it is raining) or 8Way (Octo) LNB on the existing dish instead of the the Quad LNB.

AFAIK the FTV card will work in a sky+ for viewing but not record.
