    Hi,
Seen an Epson R1800 in Dixon's Blanch today for €399 pretty good price for a super printer.

doesnt that need 8 ink carts? Very nice printer though, it has a tray just for printing directly onto CDs.

Heres a review of the printer ,
It uses the Ultrachrome inks and does indeed take 8 cartridges ( more cartridges = better quality prints ) , the printer is intended for pro print reproduction and produces glossy colourfast permanent prints that match or beat darkroom results.

It is an outstanding printer , as is the R800 ( A4 version ) . I can personally vouch for it , it will produce saleable prints that are colourfast and waterproof.

If it's 399 that's a VERY GOOD price. I'd expect that to be about 550 here. I have an Epson 1290 (A3 printer as well) for must be going on 5 years now and would be tempted to go for that.

Dixons sometimes have sterling prices on their stuff ( probably by accident , let's give em the benefit of the doubt ! ) , 399 sterling would be about right for this printer , course if it is 399 euros Im running down to get one !!

I dunno if it's worth it. I was considering an R1800 recently but with the 8 x €20+ ink prices (genuine cartridges that is) and paper prices it might just work out cheaper to order in bulk from someone like photobox when you have alot to get printed. It'd be nice for the convenience of it all but there's no point throwing money away just so you can print at home.
