Help needed with 3.5 internal card reader

I purchased an internal 3.5 card reader from savastore.com. My problem is the "socket" on my motherboard and the "plug" on the card reader dont match. I have a Dell Dimension 5000. The socket has 10 male pins inside a small black surround. The plug has the same external size as the socket, but has 9 female connections and one blank. Is it possible to get an adapter? Any advice welcome.

as far as i know with that you get a usb cable that goes into the back of the card reader and then runs out the back of the case and into a usb port. so it shouldn't connect to the motherboard at all

i may be wrong though. a website that has it is saying it should connect to the mobo

Thats the one, but the lead is hard-wired into the back of the unit. No USB plug with it.

ps - the "socket" as I've called it is a USB 10 pin Header.
