My gf and i are moving to the states in less than 3 weeks. Is she entitled to some tax back for the last 2 years as shes an american citizen. Checked with taxback.com but they charge close to 10% comission.

Is she delclaring the income to the IRS? Has she been doing her 1040's whilst she has been here?

There are tax treaties between the USA and Ireland that allow for tax to be paid only once, but AFAIK the income must be declared to the IRS. She might be better off being taxed here.

Congrats again on the visa. :)

she didnt file last year to the IRS. She wil have to this year as she got money back from her retirement fund.

I think she may have to consult her accountant when she gets back, any money that she gets back will be bonus considering the financial containsts we will have before the wedding.

If she worked here in Ireland then yes she can expect a small refund for this tax year. However, as the tax year in Ireland is January-January and you're leaving in December, she will receive very little.

You do not need an accountant to get the refund, it's simple. You send Revenue your P45 and a form (P85 I think, search on citizensinformation.ie) and they will issue any refund owing.
