Power Usage.

My current PC is an opteron 144 (not overclocked...yet :) )x800, Fortron/Source Powersupply ATX 400W, and a couple of hard drives.
Monitor is a 17 dell tft.

I tend to run it 24/7 these days with torrents etc.

I'm wondering about power usage on this thing.
The last couple of esb bills have seemed a bit excessive.

    How would a p2 or p3 compare?
I'm tempted to pick one up to exclusively use for surfing and torrents?
    Any ideas or advice
What about buying a newer psu with better power ratings for an old p3 for this purpose?

    Thanks in advance...

I'd say if you got a P2 or something it'd definitely use a lot less power.

Try enabling Cool n Quiet for your processor, maybe use a program like ATItool to downclock your graphics card when you're not playing games. Also maybe find some way of spinning down whichever hard drives arent in use ?
