The number 9?? emmm...ask anyone... if they were to count from 0 to 100 how many times would they come across the number 9!!!

Probability that they tell you the correct answer??... about 200:1.

    10+
    1000+
    20+
    1000+
    30+

I thought I was so clever counting 99 as two for a grand total of 11! My brain is dying.

You are shown one number after the other quickly and when you count it in your head you end up with 5000 and not 4100.

I have been asked both of these on the spot and got both right.
Posting in the Mathematics forum probably wasn't a great idea either.:v:

RefugentGnomon..... Maybe this one is better for you!... I was given this a couple of yrs ago. It's good!,

With the numbers 1, 4, 5 and 6 you must make 24, using the following rules:

    1. Each number must be used exactly once.

    2. The allowed operations are: addition, substraction, multiplication and division.

    3. Numbers may not be concatenated (so, for example, it is not allowed to use 1 and 4 as 14).

    4. Brackets are allowed.

    There are two possible answers!.

    4/5= 1.25
    1.25-1= .25
    .25/6= 24

    w66w66

    4/5= 1.25
    1.25-1= .25
    .25/6= 24

4/5=0.8 and 0.25/6=24 apart for these been the wrong way round you got one solution..... !!!

    any luck with the other?

    5 divided by 6=5/6
    1-5/6=1/6 into 4=24
