    hi guys,

    some help needed.

i bought the above over a year ago, the last time i needed it and tried to use it everything was ok.

went to use it today. plugged it in. turned it on. xp pro picks it up - new hardware installed ubs2 drive. but its not showing any drives listed in my computer.

i tried a number of different hd's in it with various jumper settings - master etc - but no joy.

i tries replacing the ide cable in the device as it was slightly damaged and the exact same thing happens.

    any suggestions?

Had the same problem with my 80GB USB drive there a while ago, but I opened up the case of the drive :o and I'd say it's pretty fcked now..
Moral of the story: Don't open the hard drive, whatever you do.

    lol, no fear.

this lets me put in any 3.5" ide hd.
have tried 3, all of which work.
so i am a pit stumped!

You mean you have tried 3 other drives?
Or you mean that you have tried all 3 of your drives(including the "Broken" one)?

    sorry, should have explained better.

this is a hd enclosure and I have tried 3 different hd drives in it.

the hd drives are getting power cause I can here and feel it. my pc is picking up the the enclosure and installing drivers of usb2 external drive.

but no matter what it does not seem to recognise there is hd in the enclosure. I have tried different hd's and a different ide cable in the hd along with every combo of master/slave jumper settings on the hd's/

the hd's are fine cause they work when I put them as master in the pc its self.

i just dont think its hardware issue cause there is very little else harware wise.
