    Hi folks,

Am starting building work in the back garden next week and I want to get a portable trackway for the digger/dumper to run around on to protect the lawn. Does anyone know of any hire places that do these ?
I've tried all the usual DIY/Tool Hire places.

    Cheers.

    Hi ifah,

there are mats for these kind of things but I think they are pretty specialised and unlikely to be found in the local hire shop. Wooden planks (larger the better) are likely the best solution. As with anything on the grass, lift it as soon as possible to stop permanent damage.

I've sourced timber mats or "bog mats" for work in the past but I've had to get them from the UK. Mat & Timber Services are the name of the supplier if that is any good. Quiet pricey for a DIY job. I've also seen aluminium type mats used when fields are used as car park for big events but don't have a souce for them and I don't think they would be suitable for tracking plant on. I've never come across anything like this on a hire fleet.

Is is just a mini digger (3Tn) you are using or something bigger. The best thing you can do is to try and avoid turning the digger on the grass. Travelling should not damage it too much if you have rubber tracks on it. Or else you could try and get your hand on some offcuts of conveyor belt and place these like tracks across the grass.

    Not much help I know.:(

    Hi,

You could try Builders Hoists www.buildershoists.com they don't advertise the product you are looking for but they have conveyor systems and are very helpful.

If they don't have it they will point you in the right direction if they can, another company is HSS they have a few branches and carry a wide range of products.
