Just got a phone call from a private number there, a girl claiming to be from O2.

She said "We want to thank you for your loyalty, and we are giving you 10eur free credit"

I asked her will I get the credit directly to my account, she said yes, I don't have to go online, or sign anything, its all done automatically.

I guess its legit. Anyone else get this? I'm prepay btw, been with O2 for about 7 years now

A guy in work got a call like that a few years ago. They rang him & said he'd been slightly overcharged on a bill & that they were refunding him the money. Also as a thank you they were giving him 100 free texts for life!

    I'd imagine it's per month.

I switched over form Vodafone over a year ago and everytime I pay my O2 bill I get a text from them a couple of days later thanking me for my payment, but no freebies.

ive been with o2 since 6 years and never got a thank you. they seem to be going down hill due to reception problems.
the lasttime i rang them for reception problem i got 6 months free line rental then it happened again and they gave me total 18 months free and its not finishing till this sept i think.:D
i will give it a try again to get another year.

To me it would be a sign I should be on bill pay! If you are spending enough credit in a year that they are giving you freebies for loyalty you must be spending a lot, and so would be better on a bill.
    How much do you average?

Yeah strange I got that exact call from a private number yesterday.
I wasn't really listening to her though.

    It's probably just some pervert.

if some pervert is giving you 10 euro's credit does that make it prostitution?

I'm with Meteor pay as you go and bill phone.. and I find that the pay as you go phone gets treated really well - free texts, cheap calls, free credit etc while the bill phone is left out in the cold, like a used wet tissue.. poor bill phone :(

There is no free credit. She's just flicking herself off as she hears peoples happy reactions.

oh... and apparently 3/4 of the mobile phones in Ireland are on pre-pay system of some sort... I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere recently.

She knew my name, that my 085 number was on o2 ,and how long I was with o2.

All that information can be easily worked out by rumaging through your bin. These perverts will go to any lengths to flick their bean.

  • i find o2 are great for this kind of thing!

i regurlarly get texts asking me just to text "bonus" or "thanks" back to them in exchange for 40 free texts a month for 5/6 months. at one stage i was getting a total of 130 free texts a month off them!!

maybe you're right about the bill pay thing though...

i send close to 800 texts a month off my phone and still manage to use all of my free webtexts...

I was with O2 7 years (billpay) and never once did I see any of the offers they had for pay-as-you-go customers appear for me (it's not just O2 though - the others are the same). Suppose it makes sense.. they have you locked into a 12 month contract after all, why SHOULD they try and keep your business?

I've since to Meteor billpay and gotten a PAYG sim for the free txts.. cheaper all round.
