Hi new to this and has probably been discussed before. Started internet poker recently and trying to build up stack. Played $2 MTT last night on PPP lost 3 hands to same guy when I had him beat, twice he was all in early then we went our separate ways until down to last 40 of 480 and he does me again. The second time he was 10s6s I was AcKc and he filled flush on river. Then he knocks me out I was about 5th in chips 34k he has 35k blinds 1200/2400 I have QhQs he raises all in. Every bone in my body is telling me to fold but I can't resist so I go all in. He turns up 9d9c but I am still not happy. Flop is 6d4d2d turn is Qc and river is 5d. So the question is if a guy is lucky against you all night, no matter what you have do you fold?

Fold here. In relation to the blinds your stack is too big for a race witth QQ all-in against a similar stack. Let him have it and wait for a better spot.

OP....Sorry about the sarcasm. There are only a vey small range of hands that beat you here and the raiser has advertised his tendencies in his actions. Insta call. You cant sit waiting for AA all day. You sound like a good player and maybe your just unconfident. If you are unsure here ask yourself 'what hand exactly is the point at which you go from fold to call?'. In this position QQ is a monster. GL. Dave.

no, i dont fold a good hand just because my opponent is a luckbox/running well.

LOL - obviously my post related to the end question, not to the QQ hand, didn't even think about whether to play it or not, and as usual it would depend.

    Pat.
No, don't worry that a guy is running lucky. This shouldnt really be an issue as luck WILL even itself over the medium/long term.

No, but don't get personal and try and outplay him with muck just to get one over on him, play your game, if you clash you clash.

patmac, that's a bad way to be thinking, and a dangerous thread to start here!

Not sure you're messing... surely QQ is a big favourite over the donkey's range here?

Thanks I hope that will happen. Damn annoying though I don't believe in abusing people on line but I was tempted to call him a lucky so and so. I once filled a flush and got dogs abuse in a $3 dollar stt and thought I'd never do that, by the way what does lol mean I thought lots of luck?

Tut tut. Come on guys as far as I recall even beginners are allowed to ask questions. Taking the urine as it was so elequently put is normally applied to people we know when we know they will take it in the right spirit or that they have been here long enough to know it's not meant badly.

Hands Up, apologies to OP. I was taking the Mickey a little.

I probably shouldn't have quoted you Culchie because it's a general thing here from time to time that we come down hard on beginners. Just asking for folks to be a bit more thoughtful.

To give an honest answer to the question, you should never let a history of outdraws against a particular player be a reason for passing up EV+ situations.

    Pat,
The best way to make these decisions is to understand the underlying concepts involved that should be considered when making a decision.
ive read most of the replies.
some said you should call, couple of them said you should fold.
they are all saying these based on logical concepts of poker in general and MTT poker in particular.
now with regards to the hand in question you should never decide based on luck factor. no matter how many times he has outdrawn you, you should never include something completely random in your considerations.
here the villain has shown that he does not really understand starting hand strengths and lis willing to go all in with relatively low starting hands.
That being the case you should jump at this chance because you have a strong starting hand. Now this does not mean he cant have KK or AA, what this means is even if he has KK,AA you have not made the wrong decision. Hardly anything in poker is ever certain that’s why you go with what is most likely.
