For some reason I have developed a problem while playing Battlefield 2. During game play the computer would just cut out for no apparent reason, I have no idea why it happens. I've had the game a few months now and only now is the problem occurring. It happened before and after I installed the patch. From when it cuts out I lose all control of the computer and have to manually switch if off from the back.

    AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+
    ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 Series
    512MB of Ram
    2.20 GHz

I have that happen very ocasionally. Here are a couple of things I have noticed.

Playing this game really drains the PC of resources. So once you quit from the game before going back in to the game or indeed doing anything else on the machine, restart the PC. A pain the arse I know, but for the sake of a few seconds it save alot of head banging and headaches.

Also, if the game crashes to the desktop then go into the command prompt and run "chkdsk/f" and reset the machine. This will clear up an errors on the Hard Drive that will be left over after the crash. Failure to do this, again will result in a serious Migraine.

Defrag you disc regularly (O&O software is great for this) it does help and also use something like HDCleaner now and again to clear up any temp or prefetch files.

We have found that these things help big time with the smooth running of the game.

Another 512Mb ram would most likely sort out the problem.

Well I have everything on low. I did put up the sight up to 100%, then thought that was the problem and then restored it to default. Still have the problem though. I might upgrade when I get my job back during the summer.

does your pc totaly lock up ( does the num lock key turn on the light on your keyboard ) check you have the latest drivers for your sound card and graphics card and have you ever seen a blue screen or the same kind of crash in windows or anouther game?

I defragmented my computer and that seems to have done the trick.

Well when the computer crashed, it acted as if it was off. I had no control of it whatsoever

I've a new problem :( Everytime I try to join a server it sends me back to my desktop.

I went into command prompt and ran "chkdsk/f" but that didn't work.

Anyone else have any ideas what the problem is??

check your PSU is pumping enough juice whilst banging out the gameplay. may simple crumple if it's over stretched!

yeh I would be checking the PSU big time on that issue, be sure it's pumping enough juice.
