Guys,
Anyone having problems trying to start bf2 after patching?

I had..had to reinstall bf2..here's the prob..it wouldn't allow me to uninstall previous version so i had to delete all bf2 folders plus remove any bf2 entries from the registry...only then could i reinstall..BUT..ea downloader is ****ed and now i can't download SF..what a pain in the ass

Yeah! I get as far as logging into the account the it freezes my pc. may have to reinstall

Who plays SF anyway, its good for unlocks.

Strange that you are having problems. WE patched two games and they'are going great.

One suggestion lads is to re download the patch. I have had some bad experiences with patching games in the past and the only thing I could come up with was that the patch didn't download properly. It only takes a small glitch or stray information somewhere to f**k the whole thing up, especially when there was a frenzy of downloading yesterday and the servers were trying to cope with demand.

no problems here and 2 mates managed to get by without any problems either. like HSo said, maybe your download went a bit messy at some point and there's a 1 or 0 missing somewhere, hence the mess-uppery

Yes, I used that patch on 1.12 and no probs.

By the way the game version will read 1.1.2696-528.0 where as previous version (1.12) was 1.1.2254-356.0.

So im trying to apply the patch again and Im being told I need ver 1.12??
Do I need to apply the 1.12 patch (again might I add) before I can try 1.2 again...

And yes, before you ask, I was patched up to 1.12 before I tried this earlier.

Theres 2 patches. Full & incremental.
Incremental needs earlier version, but if doin a clean install/reinstall, ya need the full patch, unless ya go through the other patches again :rolleyes:

well thanks to the latest EA downloader upgrade it doesn't work and now i can't download SF..bastards

I tried patching with the incremental, failed at the start of the aidll.dll, bombed out.
Got the 350MB full patch, same thing.
Uninstalled BF2. (didnt clear registry)
installed BF2. Same thing, patch bombs.
Funny thing is, all previous patches now fail also. Cant start bf2. CTD even before EA logo comes up.
It's rightly fecked now. Looks like a complete re-install.

Did a windiff on the 'leaked' file and the 'offical' file, says they're identical.

Read somewhere that it needs to start up in 800x600 in relation to another problem someone was having. My incremental patched version wouldn't sart up and neither would my re-install with the full patch later. Remembered the above and moved my profile folder so BF2 couldn't find it. Started up first time. Reset my graphic options and then copied my controls.con back into the new profile folder and I was sorted.

i'm having this exact same problem, im so annoyed ive only just started playing the game, and the funny thing is i took so long to buy it because i was waiting for them to have a proper stable copy released, oh well. i think i might try what calibos said about all the profile stuff,

...just tried another full reinstall, removing profiles video settings etc, and checked to make sure it was removed from the regisrty, no luck, does anyone know how to contact ea over this problem? it looks to me that the patch is after corrupting some windows file or something that a reinstal of just the game wont effect and now its not going to work unless i do a format and re install but to be honest id rather get my money back and go back to counter strike.

I fixed my problem...
I uninstalled both BF2 and SF... Rebooted...
Installed BF2, rebooted, installed the 1.2 patch (360MB)..
Installed SF (which patched itself), installed 1.12 patch (not sure this was neccesary)... Game ran after wards...

After patching gameplay feels kinda weird... Not as much fun...
Give me some more time playing and I'll probably love it...

Are you saying that if you install an older patch (1.12) over a newer one already installed (1.2) then it doesn't remove the newer patch?

The order for me was BF2 -> SF -> 1.2 patch

well, after the 16th reinstall, and having turned everything like antivirus, antispyware, firewall and disconnecting from the internet and re trying to install the patches over and over again, for some reason it worked this time. anyway good luck to the rest of you and hopefully ea will get it right next time

Yeah, I know... Your sequence is probably the correct way to do it.
I was knackered when I was doing mine so I wasn't really thinking, but its working and thats all that matters...

So, every follow Ponsters example instead of mine...
