Gym after heart op?

My dad recently had a couple of stents put in. He also had a bypass done about 10 years ago. After his latest op he attended the gym in Tallaght hospital - 3 times a week for eight weeks. This really seemed to put a spring back into his step and he's keen not to loose it!

The trainers at the hospital's gym said he could join a gym and they gave him a letter that explains what he has had done, the programme he did at the hospital and what his max heart rate during exercise should be.

Has anyone experience of gyms taking on ex-heart patients as members?

yes, we have many here at my gym. theyre 2 a penny. they will need a wtritten, signed stamped letter from the dr. For inchur.

it is what he needs gyms are just being cautious but from a rehab point of view its essential. make sure to have someone qualified/knowledgeable do it though. start easier than easy and progress gradually. integrate with lifestyle and nutrition plan..
