Your online to the web via Broadband ..... You want to pop off for lunch ...dinner etc ....

Do you just leave the Pc as is? .... or should you disable comms etc? ...

I realize that Firewalls, Antivirus etc are running to protect you but do you just walk off and leave it online ? ......

It doesn't log you off. It "locks" the computer. Brings it back to the login screen or a lock screen depending on what way you have it setup.

That's two clever. Will have to dazzle the lads in work tomorrow.

We have (secuirty & procedures) auditors in for the next 6 weeks. Have to lock our computers everytime we sneeze.

If you're behind a NAT router your machine is at very little risk from just being left on anyway. Now, if you have services running on it and ports forwarded from the router, maybe then you should start to worry :)

Yup Mine too, I have a laptop thats always downloading.... ahem connected to the web and its on 24/7. Just checked the uptime on the Network connection, its 3 days 4hours 16min only time its rebooted is if a windows update is needed or I install software! Once you have a Firewall (not windows firewall), AntiVirus you will be ok! if its windows 98 its best turned off the memory leak is nuts and prob will shut its self down after a while :-) 2k and XP no probs
