Ebay scum

I bought an expensive bag off Ebay a few weeks ago but because it was fake I returned it to him and he said he would give me a refund (he has this in the listing too). He's a Power Seller from Bangor with 100% feedback, I'm in Dublin. I tracked the item recently and it said it had arrived. He was saying that the postal strike was affecting the post so I waited a few days. I didn't think the Postal striker affected Bangor but anyway.

I e-mailed him again last night and he said he never received it. I eventually rang up An Post today and they said it has definitely been delivered. They e-mailed me the Bar Code with his signature next to it showing he signed for it. I couldn't believe when I seen he had signed for it last Tuesday.

I'll be making sure I get my money back off him but surely Ebay have to ban someone like him because of this? I doubt they'll ban him though but I'll be trying my best to get the bastard banned.

Have to say that I have lost total faith in Ebay and don't use it any more. It used to be ordinary people selling to ordinary people but they've spoiled it by encouraging "power sellers" and the like. Many of which are scam artists.

    What a pity.

are they allowed to sell pirated/fake goods on ebay? im seen alot of items like dvds that are just downloaded or copied....

You can usually spot the scam artists easy enough on eBay, Usually have loads of things advertised and an engineered 100% feedback. I've bought a few things lately and no problems at all.

Tough break OP - I've been using ebay for years and only been scammed once by a clown selling pirate music CD's. Its like buying at a car boot sale - you have to be careful, and if it looks too good to be true then avoid.

unfortunately you come across people like that every day. Never use Western Union money transfer on ebay too, thats what most of the chancers breed on.

I think I'll give up buying expensive items from Ebay. I paid another few hundred for an item on 26th December. The seller had a load of positive feedback. She said she was delayed posting it and didn't post it until the 15th January. I have been on the phone to her a few times since (she sounds genuine) but she says this always happens when delivering to Ireland. I think I have 60 days to claim money from Paypal if the seller is scamming me so I have to do something about this now. Surely it doesn't take a month for something to be delivered?

i have never had a problem with ebay, but i have heard a few horrow stories from my mate in work

He bought a lacoste jumper and jacket, they were from different sellers but were both fake........

he kept the jacket as it was not that bad, but the jumper was a joke it looked like some 3 yr old stiched the logo together.

Anyway he sent it back and the same thing happened, seller kept saying he did not receive the item back........bla bla bla..............
i think in the end he got a refund not to sure will have to check that. but my mate left neg feedback and explained in the feedback that the seller was selling fake goods, as to warn other users

Something similar happened me, don't bother with ebay now at all, although I still do a lot of shopping on-line.

it sucks but to be fair you should know that if you buy 'designer' items from ebay they will be fake. It doesnt bother me as id rather have a cheap fake (some are so good its hard to tell they are not real exp those made in china) than sopend a crazy amount on a real one.

My mum sent a package from the UK first class air mail & it took a tad over 6wks to arrive - that was without any strikes on!!:mad:

    irrelevant.
    The seller recieved the item.
Postal speed isnt an issue in this case.
Its obviously some chancer trying to scam money.

what you should do is contact the company that makes the original of the bags and tell them that you know of somebody who is selling fakes of their products...they will be only too happy to hear from you.

I think that's 60 days from when you made the payment too, which is up very soon for you. I'd issue a complaint to paypal on this right now, regardless what the seller is saying. If she sent it on the 15th of last month, then it should be here by now, and it sounds like you're being conned. I know a lot of scam artists will try and keep you busy for about 60 days as they know paypal wll do nothing about it after this.

It was in the other post OP made re calling another seller & being told goods were on their way...OP asked if it was possible for goods to take a month to arrive from UK - I pointed out it was possible....that makes it relevant, no?

if you dont receive an item or you get an item that is fake or damaged, you can negociate with the seller if you feel thats a good option, but remember just file a complaint with paypal if your not happy, and its 45 days from the day you paided for the item you have to file a complaint

Ebay has gone down hill. Postage rates are crazy. A tansaction I am involved in; A couple of dvds to post from London to anywhere in the UK is £2.99 according to the seller. He wants £6.99 to post them to Galway.
I told him it couldn't be costing him £4 more??????????

It pi55e5 me off when somebody says its gone to cost £10 sterling to post and then arrives with £3 of stamps.

This is well within the sellers rights though.

One way is to go to sellers selling loads of cheap ebooks for 25p etc and that helps build up feedback at very little cost.

If you paid by Visa card you should be able to do a chargeback and get all of your money back.

If you go through PayPal you will have to pay €25.00 EUR processing fee for any claim

Standard Purchase Protection maximum claim is €200.00
PayPal Buyer Protection maximum claim is €500.00

Not much good if you've purchased something for €1000

Interestingly the two PayPal claims I made last year didn't get charged the processing fee (thankfully).

Here's an interesting story of 2 different people who got scammed by the same laptop seller.

Royal mail international signed for or Airsure costs £3.50 on top of the normal charge so £4 isn't unreasonable. Of course, if it wasn't registered post then you were being screwed as it wouldn't be more than another pound for delivery here.

It is annoying though when you do pay for the registered delivery and it arrived two weeks later by 2nd class post or something.

If you pay for registered post and it arrives by normal post, then claim it didn't arrive and ask for a refund. The seller has no proof of post or delivery and won't be able to provide a tracking number. It will serve him right for trying to pull a fast one too. That's what I'd do anyway.

yeah im kinda gone off ebay aswell.
These sort of people ruin which was possibly the best shop in the world. I never thought about it really but i came to realise that ive had more bad experiences on ebay than good ones...
Trying to buy a dream cast... she kept delaying postage.. so i asked for my money back, but i told her to send it registered using the required sum from my money... incase she tryed to say she sent it and didnt.
ended up costing me 5 quid..

then i went to buy an offical nokia battery..
he sent me an unofficial one saying then he stocks both types and made a mistake. he said if i send the battery back he will send me an official one. I was hardly gonna do that. Postage costing so much....

And then on my dj equipment, some nigerian scammer put a bid on them.Lucky that he didnt win..

chour buyer requirements -> go to your my ebay and they are located here.

you can either cancel someones bid if you want or stop bidders from countries you dont ship to in buyer requirements. Also has for instance stop someone bidding who has not registered via a credit card.

what i say to yall is get into your attic and fill a bag full of crap sell it on eBay bosh.
