Do any of you have any experience of a judo club in Waterford? Is there one? Any thoughts would be very welcome, thank you.

There's one in Ursuline - Classes are 8pm every tuesday and thursday I think. WIT also have a judo club. I was going to pay a visit to the ursuline one myself but classes were cancelled last week. I don't have the hours for classes for WIT but I can try find out for you.

If you were ever interested in brazilian jiu-jitsu, we hold classes out in tramore tuesdays, fridays and saturdays. If you need any information, just drop me a message.

    thank you,

dlofnep, i'll give you a shout if I need more info (like if I have the balls to actually turn up at a class) ... I'll ask a stupid question while I'm at it ... what is Brazilian jiu-jitsu, I know that there are jiu-jitsu classes in Waterpark, is there a difference?

Yes there is a difference between both. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is consistently tried as tested, ever evolving itself. it is one of the worlds most effective martial arts. It is much like Judo. It could be said it is Judo but emphasised mostly on groundwork with a little on takedowns and throws.

The classes in waterpark will emphasise more on the traditional side, substituting culture and attaining some impratical forms. If you really wanted to see how much of a difference there is, you could go to both classes.

Here are some videos to give you an idea.
