DVD Burning - Either out of sync or "glitching"

    Hey,

I recently formated my computer and installed all my usual DVD Burning tools -- Nero Burning Rom, DVD Shrink and TmpegENC.

Iv made a few DVDs and either they are out of sync or there is a slight continuous "glitch" throughout the movie. When I mean glitch, I mean the picture is slow to move. Its weird. Like when you do a slow forward on a VIDEO its slow to move on..

    Tried it on a DVD-R and DVD-RW.

Any ideas why this has suddenly happened? Its fine when I go to preview the EXACT files as it goes to DVD - but when I play the DVD its all messed up :S

    Cheers :)

Since it's a recent format I would guess it's your video card driver (overlay issue) or chipset drivers are not installed (dvd drive set to PIO mode)

Check both your IDE controllers in Device Manager and ensure they're set to DMA (Direct Memory Access)

    Probably something simple like that.

The Primary and Secondary IDE Channels are set to "DMA if available".

Current Tranfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 2.

So thats not it im guessing? There were two other areas listed which didnt have any options to set a DMA or even PIO..

Any other suggestions on this one Edge?

Able to play DVDs/Video files fine, no "missing drivers" in the Device Manager either. :S

Ok so, it's just dvd's you've created since the format/install that have the glitch? Regular DVDs are ok?

Did you use TMPGEnc to create the dvd files?

Maybe whatever directshow filter that is feeding video to TMPGEnc is causing the glitches.
Try installing FFDshow if you haven't already....or if you have, use the native directshow filter (untick the codec from ffdshow's video configuration)

Or, does all these glitches only happen during playback from the burnt disc?
    Your XP right?
Could be an ASPI issue if your not.

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

I must test another DVD and see what problems I encounter this time. I had originaly tried two TMPGEnc (menus etc) and they were out of sync.

I then created a DVD by converting an AVI file to VOB - and using DVDShrink to burn them to disk. This file had the glitch when it was burned, but plays fine before burning. Im poor at explaining, so I hope you understand what I mean by "glitch".

    Im XP SP2.
