yea d/l it now. at a steady 6.4 Kb/s, going to take over 3 hours. Site is swamped. If I could be sure other server was a genuine patch I'd use that. Anyone got MD5 for the incremental update?

Well most of tig have downloaded the "other patch" from winters link and it works fine but if you feel you need it to be proven genuine then stick with your 6.4kbps steady download.

yea well someone installed an unofficial patch and it borked their install so i don't want to risk it.

Okay I installed the patch and went to install that incremental update thing and said I needed to install the patch I had just installed. Help me.

If you are having trouble downloading the incremental patch which is only 82m compared with the full patch wiich is 300+meg, note that the file name appears to have been changed on the ftp server. Also if you are have trouble logging on to EA's ftp then try the following link:

http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/

you will see both patches in that directory.

However, as was said previously, downloads are slow owing to the demand.

I have both patches downloaded, but the incremental patch won't install.

It looks like you must have your game patched up to 1.12 for the incremental patch to work. Where as if you are still using an out-of the box version, then you would need the full patch. That they way these things are supposed to work.

What version of the game did you try to patch with the incremental?

I was on 1.12 then patched to 1.2

I should have used the Incremental patch first.

So now I am re-patching 1.12

Hey Zen man, I don't understand.

If you were already on 1.12 then the incremental should have worked if EA are giving us the correct info.

So if I understand EA correctly you only need one patch or the other, depending on which version you are patching.

No and vice versa. if you download the incremental and (this is important) already your game is up to 1.12, then you don't need the large patch

One thing I’ll say about the patch install is that at least EA had the decency to have an interface that gave some feedback about what the patch was doing.

The first two patches I thought were the product of some very sloppy programming that gave the user no idea if the patch was running correctly or if indeed it had crashed.

It looks as though EA actually listened to suggestions about the patching.
