Eircom BB, a fate worse than debt?

First post here - nice wall paper :) .

I have been wrestling with Eircom since before Xmas. I had a flat rate account and decided to upgrade to broadband. I contact their sales ppl and after being told I would have to pay the full period fees for my flat rate if I cancelled the account, if I took up Broadband, I agreed to take a double dose in one month (the end of my flat rate and my new subs).

To my suprise, Eircom actually charged my for the calls made during my Flatrate period, and also my new BB connection which was due. So a few hundred Euro - yes A FEW HUNDRED  and my new BB fee.

This basically amounts to being penalised for upgrading.

I cannot believe that I am the only person this has happened to. Anyone else have information about how others have managed (or not) to reslove this land mine in their land line?

I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction because Eircom internet services are not covered by Comreg  .

what you have in your favour is that you did not cancel FlatRate inside a contract period and agreed to let it run to end of contract including overlapping with BB .

If they cancelled it ...which they need not have done as you agreed to have both flatrate and bb for 'a while' to finish out your flatrate contract , you should email complaints@eircom.ie and if they do not sort it out fully in 48 hours go to phil.nolan@eircom.ie for a resolution.

yoor complaint is very common where flat rate was cancelled at any stage during a 2 month billing period .

if your one months notice ends during the current 2 month billing period they will try charging you for every call you made .

It got sorted out. PHEW!. Took nearly 3 months and the money is to be returned by crediting my next bill.

It is slightly baffeling how this can be allowed to happen in the first place. I can only imagine the vast amount of time that is wasted by both Eircom and the general public in sorting out things like this.

Not everyone complains about being overcharged. If they don't complain, Eircom get to keep the money.

You MUST complain in writing to Eircom and exhust Eircom's complaint procedure or Comreg won't listen to your complaint at all.
