    Aux Le Bahnn

This horse is currently around 50-1 for the Cheltenham Bumper. It's hard for me to put the horse up as a definite each way shout cause it's only 1-2-3, however, it's not hard for me to flag the horse up as a definite future winner.

Ok, looking at that the one we'll pick out first is Keenan's Future.

    Quote:
I was worried about the bad ground, and I think they could have done with a bit more rain to make it less testing. His owner, Patrick Kelly is also my landlord, and has some good Irish contacts and bought him at Cheltenham sales last April. It’s nice to win a hurdle with him and he’s going to make a chaser - Ian Williams, trainer

That was after Keenan's Future beat Seymar Lad (a fairly decent type) by 14 lengths. He went on then to beat Rare Gold, Craven and Chelsea Bridge (Chelsea Bridge beat Trabolgan in his bumper ) So he's done ok since his debut.

Next we'll look at Top Ram...after his debut he had an unexplained mishap but then went on to beat a number of horses (including giving a hammering to 6/4 favourite, sobers who in turn had hammered a number of horses who have since come out and won decent races). So this one as well is no sloach.

Look well back in the field and you will see subsequent winner Pangbourne and useful enough Principe Azzuro(second to dream alliance)

The point is, on this bumber day in question, Aux Le Bahnn didn't just beat these horses...he annihilated them. Jockey William Kennedy never moved a muscle on him and the horse won in the easiest possible way...so easy in fact that it's impossible to really tell how good he could potentially be. He's 50-1 currently for the champion bumper but may not get the right ground that day. Regardless, he's definitely a surefire future winner for Noel Chance.

update: The above mentioned Seymor lad and Pangboure have both won the last two races of the day. 9-2 and 5-1. I wrote this last night but only got around to posting now.

Aux le bahnn currently available at 80/1 & 90/1 for small money (17 euro) on betdaq

available on betair at 150 at the moment

yeah, I had a feeling you could get bigger in a few places for small bets, but the amount of winners coming out of the race is impressive. To be honest, I didn't know those two horses were running today but it's a pleasant surprise to see the form continually boosted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,684 ✭✭✭scargill

very good analysis - I suppose the ground will be the deciding factor if it runs.
It has been drifting on betfair - maybe it mightn't run at all ?

I stook a tenner on in for the craic - haven't really done any other ante-post Cheltenham bets - see what happens over the next few weeks.

I was thinking about that...the horse's equally impressivepoint to point wins were on on soft ground also so that's obviously what he has a liking for. However they have entered him for the race and maybe after two full day's of racing they'll be hoping that the ground will be fairly cut up.

Also, Aux le Bahnn hasn't run since the start of December so he'll be a fairly forgotton horse in this race, i.e, no particular reason to shorten him (unless the busy bookmakers decided to look deeper into his form)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,937 ✭✭✭fade2black

He's out for this season with a pulled muscle and we might have been hurrying him along a bit which was a mistake but I was thinking about championship bumpers. We should probably have given him time from the outset. I saw him win his point to point and he was ten lengths last at the third last and he won by ten lengths. He is a very good horse who will want two and a half miles over hurdles. I would never run him on good to firm.

This is going to be some horse to follow next season.

Currently around 59-1 for the Royal and Sun Alliance Hurdle. No entries yet this season. (I've been checking every day)

    UPDATE:

    AUX LE BANN
    5 b g Beneficial — Helvick Lass.
Irish point winner and impressive winner of only start last season when beating Fast Forward a length and a half in Warwick bumper in December. Yet to race this season but plenty of potential.
“Got a problem when he was turned out but is now back cantering. He will have a couple of hurdle races this season in late February then go chasing in the new season. Having said that, I might have a look at one of the good bumpers — the jury’s still out because he’s got plenty of ability. I bought him in Ireland when he won his point coming from ten lengths last at the third from home to win ten going away by ten. Lovely big, scopey horse.”

I think this horse can safely consider himself "adopted" by the people here:D

:D I I sent him a birthday card last month signed by us all.

    No entries yet unfortunately.

    But a form update:

    2nd - Fast Forward

Won a class 4 chase in December and won a class 3 chase today.

    5th - Principe Azzuro

Beat Flintoff in a class 3 chase in Novemeber, sustained run of decent form since. Was a beaten fav behind Fast Forward today.

There are a few more winners in there, one of the more interesting ones is Pangbourne who finished well down the field in the bumper but has since beat Tidal Bay, Kicks for Free, Alfie FLits, Whicita Lineman, Sir Jimmty Shand...and many more.

Interesting, but probably not too reliable. Still the appetite remains whetted.

Where can you see the betting for this - I cannot see anything on Oddschecker - Thanks.

This could be the biggest anti-climax of all time....

But Aux Le Bahnn has two entries this Wednesday. Both bumpers. He'll probably be a short price.

It's also entered in a race in Newbury on the 24th. You must wonder how it will cope, or how ready it is for this race at Lingfield. Maybe it's a prep race for the race on the 24th? All will be revealed soon I guess.

Without wishing to dampen the mood of excitement, what percentage of promising bumper horses deliver. I've followed a lot of them, particularly winning pointers and seen them win first time out in a canter and think here we go........ and then they flop, often struggling to win a hurdle race, probably win a chase and then they invariably end up running in poor handicap chases the next year. There is nothing like watching another promising horse fail if you ask me!

And then there are the one's that get away. The horses you see that don't register with you at all until you see them coming up the hill at Cheltenham and think I remember seeing that yoke somewhere. Saw Snowy Morning win a point to point winners of one where he nabbed the yoke I was on on the line. Didn't follow him until he was too short to back in the Sunalliance, didn't really fancy him. Now I'd take him ahead of Denman for next year.

Anyway Aux Le Bahnn, best of luck.

A agree with ya Terry, there's every chance this one could flop. However, it's nice to get on the ground floor every now and again and not quite know where you're gonna go...

Yep. It really has to be a watching brief for me. I'm just curious to see whether the horse come on or regressed since 05. Chance wouldn't risk the horse on the AW surface if he didn't think the horse could handle it though.

I watched the race, had no bet. He is a rag. Would have been a bad third had Jonjo O'Neill's horse not fallen. He was hampered a little bit but was nowhere near the winner and never travelled that well. Looks like a one paced plodder to me. 200/1 for Cheltenham in my book.

Why did FTB get banned, anyone know??

I always found him to be a valueable contributor to the Horse Racing forum, not to mention a decent mod.

I'm just speculating here but I'd guess that it is because this moderator chap Hobart is a ****.
