mate needs advice

    my mate wants to break up with her boyfriend of almost a year but she doesnt know how to go about doing so. she doesn't want to hurt him. its her first long term relationship also. thought i'd help her out by asking here for a third person's view.

    I imagine hurting him is unavoidable and she should just go ahead and start with "This isn't working..."

    Age old dilema, she cares about him but doesnt want to hurt him. The reality is that she will hurt him and there's no way getting around that. She should do it as quickly as possible rather than dragging it out and the best thing she can do is give the guy a straight answer. He may not like what he hears but in the long run he will appreciate it.

    I was in the same boat as your friend, and I broke up with my girlfriend 3 weeks. Ago. There are times I regretted doing it but in the long run I think I made the right decision. It hasn't been easy for her, though.

    Your mate should make sure she is making the right decision, and then be honest with the bloke completely.
