why are the polls switched off for the political forum? wouldnt polls be good to get an idea of support for party/leadership/policy support.
any chance getting them switched back on?

No. People just took the opportunity to set up biased and/or inconclusive polls.

They then took the place of decent debate because instead of actually engaging in debate, posters just voted, gave a one-word (or no) post, and left the thread.

They were more trouble than they were worth, so they've been switched off indefinitely. They'll only be turned back on at the request of the Politics Mods, which won't be anytime soon I reckon.
