COnnecting to a server through All Seeing Eye.

    Is it possible to connect to a server directly through ASE? i.e. double click on the server and the game launches you into the server? I'm pretty sure I seem to remember being able to do this before the last patch came out, Didn't play for a couple of months and now it just brings me as far as the in game browser screen when I double click on a server in ASE.

    The ea message popup screwed it all up.

    Ah... That would make sense, don't remember the pop up message being there when I could connect direct from ASE, obviously the pop up message was introduced with the last patch.... Feckin' EA....

    All seeing eye has a great filter, hopefully they'll take the popup into account. I know xfire will open up BF2 and go straight to a server, but that will only work if one of your contacts is on a server.

    No it didn't. I've been connecting directly with ASE since last November.

    The pop-up didn't do a thing, all you have to do is tell ASE what your login and password is and it connects directly.

    xfire doesnt work properly either :( *sigh*

    I don't know if this is good or bad news just xfire works perfectly and has done since July 2005. As with ASE, you need to manyually tell xfire what your login and password are and then it connets perfectly.



    To "fix" Xfire, simply copy and paste the code section shown below into your xfire_games.ini file replacing the existing BF2 entry.

    Remember, you must change the XXXX above to YOUR BF2 username and password, and be sure to properly capitalize any letters necessary in your BF2 username and or password or joining will not work!


    Once you have done that, save the file, restart Xfire (do *not* just logout/in), and you should be ready to join BF2 games again.

    ALSO, when you join a BF2 server, it MAY look like this fix didn't work for a hot second, but DON'T CLICK ANYTHING. The map loading screen WILL show up.
