NTL was down most of Sunday for me. I was told "It's being worked on". It was back on Monday evening, but this morning it was down again.

    Not impressed...

Headford Rd area. Have ntl the last 2 weeks or so... im getting latency probs all the time, makes games fairly unplayable...

how do you find it generally?

Never thought id say i really miss my eircom connection! It may have been pricey but it was great!

I think it may have to do with the impending upgrade, my previously very solid connection (Leopardstown) went down for about a day a few weeks ago, and the downs seem to be cropping up at random around the city. Once it came back on its been as solid as ever

fingers x'd thats what it is anyway ;)

Yep I'd very much imagine that the impending upgrade will see plenty more down periods over the next few weeks, it'll all be worth it though.
Anyway all fine in waterford for the last week or so, no down time at all.

I spend a fir amount of time in online games too, usually NTL has been solid as a rock for me but since Xmas its been a little bit off, Pings going through the roof random disconnects and other minor stuff.

I hope its all down to network upgrades or whatever for the new upgrades we are getting soon (fingers crossed)...

    fingers crossed!

ive seen people post from various parts of dublin complaining about the same thing so hopefully thats it

I went throught the eircom upgrade in January and it was the same thing... a lot of slowdown in the few weeks before the upgrade... once the upgrade occured things were flying! Lets hope NTL get the upgrade right....

dont thinks its gone well for everyone in the UK ( i know there separate companies but the ntlhell forum can be worth a look to see )

newish to broadband and have a ntl cable modem, just wondering if anyone knows what upload and download speeds i should be getting. Have done speed checks at around 200kps. I'm not sure if its my PC thats slow or the connection. Appreciate any knowledge on this.

go to 192.168.100.1 username and password are both 'root'. Click Operation config and that will say what speed you should be getting.

    i'm getting
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 1024000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 100000,
If they are bits, am i only getting 200,000??
can you recommend a better speed tester??
    i used http://myspeed.visualware.com/

    cheers Paulm17781,

used smart telecom speed check and it showed those figures.
must be the pc thats slow after all these updates.

The smart telecom test is "very optimistic". Must be frigged somehow as any other test is more accurate.
