They were neighbours of mine... Local gossip is suggesting that it was suicide, but nobody knows for definite.
One of the kids was my little sister's friend. She's devastated.

I'm a neighbour and thought they were a nice family. As you said LOCAL GOSSIP - lets just wait and see what they find. Police, Ambulances, Firemen, reporters everywhere at minute. Tough time for everyone. This is the third Tragedy on this road of this magnitude and very hard to comprehend

I live about five minutes from there and passed by there this afternoon, wondering what all the fuss what about. The whole area was cordonned off and the forensic crew were there.

I was on the bus home from college and saw a load of Garda CSI and technical bureau vans by those shops in firhouse and was wondering what it was.
    Very sad.

There have been a lot of deaths making the news in firhouse in the last year or so. I'm just glad I don't live there anymore.

Femmy, deffo not a gas leak or anything innocent. Believe there is signs of violence and scene in house meant to be very gruesome. Prayers are with all connected/affected!!

Rte news said Gardai has told them not to name the victims, yet they're names are in two stories on breakingnews.ie will they get in trouble for this?

Where is the father at present? I know everything is speculation but intrigued as to what happened. Must be terrible for the entire neighbourhood to have violence happen so close to home in such innocent circumstances. Hearing about criminals being shot is one thing, a mother and her 2 kids dead is another...:(

This really is a tragic event. I hope the remainder of the family and friends can pull through this horrendous time. RIP

The father's currently with his relatives... he found this when he came home from the US this morning.

Standard not to name people until the family told. They can't get into trouble, you can't libel the dead!

Tragic story - hard to imagine the mental state of someone who could do this. Pity depression and mental problems are such a taboo in this country

stabbed? I heard throats cut. Even her own... So yes, you would have to be suffering some sort of mental issue I imagine to do such things to yourself let alone your young children. very sad.

Same thing happened to a colleague of mine many years ago. His wife killed their two kids, and then killed herself. He only found out when he got home from work that evening. Poor guy never quite recovered.
