Anyone else heard the rumour that the IRFU are bringing Alan Gaffney back into the national team set-up as backs coach.
I haven't heard of him getting a new job since eddie jones got the bullet so it could be true.

Think its time to look outside the provinces for coachs.Gaffeny mustnt be that good if Munster havnt won Heiniken cup yet.Too much politics in the ireland setup, fresh blood is needed.

Source was a former member of the irish management setup.
Rational behind it is that they won't admit defeat and sack Eddie. After all he promised 3 wins in the 6 nations and if we beat Wales and scotland then that's our 3 !

Gaffney did well with Munster and they would have won the Heineken under him had it not been for their back line (and neil back) !
Plus, he's at a loose end since Eddie Jones got sacked.

Also, I'd be suprised if they do a complete change of staff with the world cup being so close (close in terms of number of matches left to prepare) !

I think the Neil Back incident was at the end of the Declan Kidney/Claw era.
Imo, I don't think adding Gaffney to the management setup will have anyway near as much an impact as what's needed.

Well I think the fact that he's not a paranoid, deluded fool might help.
