Similar to the Doyle thread. He scored a late equaliser today against Spurs. Good finish even though I feel the turn was more luck than skill.

Havent seen much of this guy and Im curios to know what people think of him.

I hate the guy, he caused me to lose 8pts from my Fantasy football team for that goal....

i'm sure nobody has seen a whole load of him unless there is someone who was watching him before he went to sunderland.
It was a good goal and he deserves a bit of credit for it,
he seems strong, quick enough, touch looks good aswell.
Could be the next zinadine kilbane.

Darly is a good young Kid. Sunderland signed him from Waterford United. He had a spell over at Ipswich town a couple of years back also.He was sent out on loan earlier this season to one of the Sheffield clubs, not sure if its wednesday or united. But by all accounts it was very successful for him, but Sunderland recalled him due to injuries.

How did he play today? Did he start the game?

it was wednesday and i think he was only there for like a month, i'm not sure how much of an impact he made at Wednesday if any.

I'm sure we will see him starting more games for Sunderland now that he has done what Mick's other 20 championship standard strikers can't do. SCORE a GOAL!!!!!

Very good player just the teams he was at needed the big man factor(bigger than him) and he didnt get much of a look in. Stuck at it and only starting to pay off now.

Think Waterford get more cash for him if he plays 2 more games.

He was a good player for Waterford. I think he was at Ipwich before that.

He's quick and quite agile for a big guy.

Waterford sold him for €100,000 or something which is another pathetic transfer fee, adding to Doyle, Long, Hoolahan and Roy Keane:D

yeh he was with waterford united, after a spell with luton town, then there was a race to sign him from the blues between ipswich and sunderland, and sunderland got him, he is a very quick and strong player, and good in the air, he is worth alot more than 100,000 anyway

    He's a "Legend"

since he stopped Spurs getting 3 points and leaves Arsenal still in the running for a Champions League spot. ;)

he was good in eircom league, but definately not one of the best. farren, o'flynn, byrne, crowe, zayed, doyle all better imo.

the main eircom league related thing that sprrings to mind with murphy was the ireland v france u-21 international in turners cross.

murphy scored, and when his name was announced as being the scorer, everyone booed! there then followed some anti-waterford united chanting. quite a funny moment, considering ireland had just scored! shows the animosity between cork city/waterford....

To be honest he was nothing special in the Eircom league, but it could be seen that he had potential. He's never going going to be an exceptional player but you know what you will get from him.

Hes strong and quite tall and ok skill wise. I seen also playing against Arsenal in Highbury and he was Sunderland's best player. I am surprised he is not on more as he is the kind of player that could cause problems in the box if the ball is pumped into him.

Former Kilkenny City striker Michael Ready seems to be scoring away in Englend too and former Bohs palyers Gareth O'Connor and Shaun Maher are doing well also. Cobh Ramblers reject player Roy Keane has managed to carv out a career for himself in the game too as has Richie Foran who is Motherwell's best player.

Unfortunately the move to England for these players seems to be a step down, apart from the tops teams the other teams arn't really worth playing for (apart from the £20000 per week).

Its just a pitty that the players that come over here from England don't perform as well !

The two Hunts are also doing quite well for their respective clubs.

It was £100k STG he went from Waterford for, which is a decent fee.

While in the eL he stood out of a mediocre Waterford team, though I never could see how he was attracting all this attention form the UK. That said, I dont make a living from football, so I have no doubt that the interested parties saw something.

Glad to see him doing well.

And former Cork Reserve player Shane Long could be an Irish International soon as could former Monaghan United player Jonathan Douglas. We hoolahan is going to loss at Livingstone, he is the only player who knows how to play football there. Richie Byrne, former Shamrock Rovers, is doing well at Aberdeen. All we need now is for Roddy Collins to get another job over there and take away some of our crap players again :D

And I nearly forgot, former St Pats player Paul McGrath wasn't that bad either (no don't mention Curtis Fleming)

Was he not played on the left wing in that game? I remember him making a few runs down the left and causing Toure a few problems. I'm just confused as to what his position is, I was assuming he's a midfielder / winger.

Yeah he definitely played on the wing in that game but is more of an out-and-out striker in my books.

Thats it in a nutshell. Its all well and good for players to prove themselves at a different level but its to the detriment of our own league.

He's a striker really. mcCarthy played him on the wing against Arsenal to give him a run out (he does have some pace and I think they were short of left wingers...? ;):D)

Well he was with Waterford United before Sunderland. Waterford's not that far from Carlow is it?!

Delighted for him. Good player scored a few against us over the years. Should make a good living over there.

He was a good player for a poor Waterford team so it didn't suprise me that he recieved interest.

Unfortunatly unless he makes a good impression in the closing stages of the season, he will be going down with Sunderland

I thought he had a great game against Arsenal that day.
Any time I've seen this fellah, he has impressed me, got a slice of luck with the goal last weekend, but finished it lovely, and got muscled his way past the defender to earn his 'luck'.
