Consdering Resident Evil is mostly on the Nintendo these days, what with that exclusivity agreement seeing only RE4 and RE5 on and set for alternate consoles, what do you think Resident Evils future is?

Myself personally, Id like to see

    1. A game based on the original S.T.A.Rs Squad, maybe involving a rescue op
    2. A game from the Scientists point of view regarding the outbreak
    3. Resident Evil 1.5 (the alternative 2nd game Capcom made and then didnt use)

    Resident Evil 0
    2. A game from the Scientists point of view regarding the outbreak
I couldnt see what you could do in their situaition, run away? get infected?
    3. Resident Evil 1.5 (the alternative 2nd game Capcom made and then didnt use)
Wasnt that made, it was just Resi 1 with extra options and a demo for Resi 2

Id personally like to see something mention Code Veronica just to bump it from its situation as a useless game. Also perhaps what happened between 2/3 and 4... thats a 6 year gap.

That could make an interesting game if you think about it.
Never really played as a character that changed significantly from a gameplay point of view during the process of the game.

Imagine your character gradually changing and battling the urge to eat his fellow survivers.
If well written could make for a more engaging story then usual too.

There's no room in Resident Evil for a Rogue Physicist, Mr. Freeman.

Ahem. I don't really know where they could take it next.

It was no worse then the games that came before it, it's the best RE I've played (not played RE4 yet mind you)

Apart from a few bugs, I thought Code Veronica was good.

Code Veronica was the first Resident Evil game I played.

I thought it was really good and the graphics were outstanding when it first came out on the Dreamcast.

My favourite Resident Evil game has to be Resident Evil 2 though. I loved the way you could play through the game from either of the 2 characters perspectives and it would be different depending on which one you played through with first. I'd like to see them develop that idea some more... and I'd also like to see more interaction with human allies and villians.

my first resident evil was REmake on the gamecube, when i first got it i tried it for 10mins and got bored (i was 12) left it for like 2yrs then went back at it and i was like woah this is class
then when i completed that (took like a month) I got my hands on resident evil 0
it was also class almost as good as REmake and thats saying something
after that for x mass i got RE2 and RE3 on the gamecube
loved RE2 but never really got into RE3
got RE4 a few months ago i loved it but prefer the old style of gaming
and now im after ordering Resident evil ds of cd-wow and it should be here in a couple days
RE ds looks class imo (now just to find someone else with it for multiplayer and co-op)

    Pah! Blasphemy.

Code Veronica was quality. The graphics at the time were amazing and I thought the story was good for a RE game.

Certainly better than RE3. I really didn't like that game. Nothing beats RE2 though, Tofu mode ftw!

I've never been a big fan of RE3 either. It was a bit too much of a rehash of Resident Evil 2.

RE3 had a bit of a lame ending as well... But the ending to Resident Evil 2 is amazing... it just keeps on giving more and more...

I found RE4 had a hugely disappointing ending... the final boss really wasn't up to much and there wasn't a huge amount of tension leading up to him, but the escape sequence was fun though.

Found Resi 3 to be a rehash of Resi 2 as well. There really wasn't enough improvement. Stilled loved it though and Nemesis was fantastic (I love my Resi bad guys to keep returning more mutated than before :) )

Loved the Resi 2 ending as well and how you got a new main bad guy the second time through and a new section at the end. It did feel a bit gimmicky that you had to play it 4 times but I loved the game so much it didn't matter.

Birkin retains that crown in my opinion, Nemesis was formidable and quite cool but he didnt have enough menace... Birkin was just messed up.

    Yeh,
that creepy sluggish thing at the end took all the biscuits, but Claire scenario B's end guy f*cked me up... *shudder

No RE1.5 refers to the original draft of RE2. They scrapped the game when still in production (in similar fashion to RE4) and started again. Screenshots of the original draft had already been shown in magazines and I think there was a demo
that was shown to journalists. Leon was the main male character but the female character was different. I remember there were a few screenshots of leon shooting at zombie bike cops in the police firing range.

RE2 DEFINITELY had the best endings imo. It really gave the game replay value, i honestly cant remember the last game i played through 4 times! (i think doom 3 holds that honour).

In respons to that person asking if theyre missing out if RE4 is thier first game, the answer is YES! you'll be able to pick it up and understand whats going on easily, but the very fact that you've not played through such classics as RE2, REmake, you should hang your head in shame.

Best resis? Was only thinkin about this last night. For me i think the top 3 Resis are
    RE2
    RE4
    REmake.

Also i just bought re4 cheap on th ps2 (got it on the cube on release day tho :) ). Anyone know if the extras in the ps2 were worth the purchase? I dont see much of a differecne in graphics tbh, and the widescreen option in the ps2 version is very much appreciated

I think the ps2 version has more mini games once you complete it. Not exactly sure.
I think RE2 is most peoples' favourite. I think I'm in the minority as I always prefered the first game. I always thought it had an atmostphere that was never recreated (except in the remake :D ) plus I found it was harder to complete than the second game.

You're right, i had those costumes in mind when posting what i did... they had them on Kawaiidesigns and i split myself laughing

well actually i take back what i say about RE3 as i started playing it last week and completed it last night and i have to say its brilliant
Nemesis is by far the coolest enemy in RE

anyway i got REds of cd-wow today
1st thing i noticed that american ds boxes are thinner and have black on the inside (we have seethrough plastic)
having only played REmake im finding this a new experience and i am pleasantly suprised
very good game ds pulls it of well (though having problems blowing into the microphone at the moment trying to save richard wont work for me..)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,935 ✭✭✭eyerer

does anyone else think blowing into the microphone as part gameplay isn't really cool?

    hmm?
    just me then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

at first i though it was totally gimicky but once you do it, it is really quite fun
dont knock it until you try it
the way you have to time is and all that is preety cool
